Have you heard of the little engine that could? This is the tiny but mighty bakery. I've been visiting Lake Placid for years, but only discovered this bakery this year, mostly by following its patrons who were perambulating around the Main Street what looked like amazing little scones. Speaking of said scones, they're fantastic. If you're expecting biscuit-line scones, these might be a bit of a disappointment. These are on the bread-ier side of the pastry spectrum, but no less satisfying. We tried the blueberry almond scone and the raspberry white chocolate, and both were scarfed down within minutes. I also love that these aren't sickly sweet. Paired with a latte (for which I highly, highly recommend getting a pump of the hazelnut syrup), Bluesberry Bakery was responsible for supplying some of the best breakfasts we had during our stay in Lake Placid. City folks ought to temper their expectations. This is a small town bakery on a quaint main street, and inside, space is tight. There isn't any seating space, and if two or more groups of customers come in simultaneously, the rest of the queue has to wait outside the door. But things behind the counter are manned by a small, dedicated crew of folks who keep things moving. As with any bakery that makes things fresh, come as soon as the urges hit; when they're out, they're out. I learned this the hard way when I came late afternoon for a scone and found they were sold out.

We have been coming to lake placid every year for as long as we can remember and we’ve never tried this bakery before surprisingly. We got coffee and some pastries. The latte we got was pretty good! Nothing special but good. The coffee was a little bit bitter for our liking. They also had a very wide selection of pastries. All the pastries we got were very good. Our favorite out of all of the ones that we got was the blueberry crumb bar. We also got the apple cinnamon roll and the chocolate and almond roll. Both were very good. When we got there the line was out the door (mostly because the shop is very small) but it moved quickly. The service was good. Overall a very cute place to get some coffee and pastries. It’s also right across from mirror lake so you are able to eat the delicious coffee and pastries there with an incredible view.

I wish I could clone this bakery and bring it back home with me. All the items are scratch made and so incredibly delicious. It is really a To go order joint as it is really tiny inside and it's so popular you sometimes need to wait outside for it to clear out to even get to the counter. Rest assured, it is worth the wait!! We were in Lake Placid 3 mornings and I got (as the hobbits call it second breakfast) here every morning. My wife is rolling her eyes. The strawberry and cream cheese Danish was the bomb! So good! The scones were massive and delicious! Not overly sweet either! The turnovers were fabulous as was the eclair. The Boston cream pie and mini cheesecakes looked amazing. The almond pastry was light and delicious! Get some goods for the car ride or for a delicious on to go snack or dessert.
