Exceptional Lighting — Local services in Town of North Hempstead

I am writing this complaint to request a refund for a lamp I intended to purchase from your store, Exceptional Lighting LI on May 10, 2025, for $1987.65. On the day of purchase, I explained to the owner that I was undergoing construction and was unsure if the lamp would fit. I requested to take a picture of the lamp and its specifications to send to my construction team for verification. The owner informed me that pictures were not allowed, despite no visible signage indicating this policy but that if the lamp did not fit, he would give me a full refund, so I proceeded with the purchase, agreeing to buy the display model at a 10% discount. I was scheduled to pick up the lamp on May 15. However, on May 13, I contacted the owner to inform him that, according to my construction contractor, the lamp would not fit in my living room due to the existing ceiling box and track lighting. At that point, the owner stated that the sale was final and a refund would not be issued. As a result, I did not pick up the lamp, and I am now requesting a full refund for the purchase but the owner refuses to refund my money. Now he has the merchandise...

Update 2020 - So my husband and I bought our first house and we remembered how awesome Sal was when I had visited the year before with my mom. He has such beautiful lamps and chandeliers! And the cherry on top is that Sal never makes you feel pressured or dumb; he is polite, respectful, and patient. And because of that, we bought our own chandelier - an 8-light presidential design that looks stunning in our dining room, along with a 32" cherub medallion. His prices are very fair and his personality is awesome! He is definitely our go-to-spot/guy for beautiful lighting!!

2019 - I came with my mom to check out some chandeliers...and we were not disappointed! Sal helped us out; he was patient, very knowledgeable and respectful. He did not pressure us into buying anything the spot, and he offered us advice on how to make our possible choices stand out in our home. He never made us feel rushed, pressured or incompetent. We were definitely happy with the location and Sal's customer service. We will definitely be back for our lighting needs!!!...

If you are looking for Amazing high quality light fixtures, great prices, huge selection, exceptional customer service, professional and knowledgeable staff LOOK NO FURTHER THIS IS THE LIGHT STORE FOR YOU!!! They treated us like family. I LOVE this place. The show room is tremendous. There is an overwhelming amount of chandeliers on display to choose from. Modern, Traditional, Large, medium, small, THEY HAVE IT ALL!! We are so over the moon with our Gorgeous chandelier. EXCEPTIONAL lightening not only sold us a high quality chandelier at a very reasonable price but they also delivered it, put it together, and installed it for us. THIS PLACE is like no other.
