Disappointed in this how this department handles things. (Read to the end for a PSA that may help you too.) -- Got a traffic ticket (which I found unreasonable, even the officer says "Yeah, a lot of people don't realize they can't do that"), went to a court hearing by Zoom (where judge says "We're sending a strong message [about that particular traffic charge]") and was specifically told by that judge that I could take the drivers course to avoid getting points on my license, and to watch for instructions to arrive in the mail on how to take the course. I wait. Nothing comes in the mail. So I call the clerks office back one month later (we have 2 months to complete the course) to ask if anything had been sent yet; they say they don't know and to call the Secretary of State. I call SoS, they say I was never eligible for the drivers course.(?) Which wasn't what I was told by the judge. When I say the judge specifically said I was eligible for the drivers course, SoS says to call the clerks office back, so I did. The lady who answered was cold and curt. I explained the situation and that I was told to call the clerks office back, and she said there was nothing she could do. I said I was confused that the judge then gave me misinformation about my eligibility, and she literally responds "Well, that's your interpretation." -- I asked who I could relay a communication to that this judge may be misinforming others about their eligibility and she said there was no way to leave a message with anyone. So now I'm nearly $300 out with points on my license, as are probably many other drivers who were told otherwise. (Side note: where I was pulled over that morning en route to work, I saw cops parked in the same spot a couple mornings later, so I believe it was a sting of sorts "to send a strong message" the judge referenced (as if the heart attack one feels when pulled over by a cop wouldn't impart enough of a lesson already). So a friendly PSA to all other drivers who may not realize this... If a school bus stops anywhere on a main road with the lights flashing, (of course you wouldn't drive past it if you're going the same direction, but) even if you're nearly a hundred feet away and FIVE lanes away and going in the OPPOSITE direction to that bus and the middle lane separating traffic directions is bordered with solid double yellow lines, you STILL have to full stop and wait for the bus to start moving again, unless the median/middle lane is 'raised' somehow (i.e. dirt, grass, a border or short...
Read moreGot a ticket on big beaver for being on my phone. I had my phone in my hand, wasnât on it at all. I told the officer that and she said âwe want people to have both hands on the wheel and looking forwardâ(so every person smoking, eating a French fry or anything else Iâm sure is getting pulled over based on that reasoning). I pull up the ticket today and itâs an outrageous $210 and $8 service fee (whatâs up with the service fee, only the government can get away with that). I legit feel scammed. I donât text and drive or talk and drive, I get on people for that. This has put a bad taste in my mouth for the police in this area. This isnât protecting and serving, this is scamming working class people and is predatory. Officer Parra you should be better and actually prevent crimes. I know no one will care at this court or the police department, but this is a scam that will take medication away from...
Read moreHorrible! Plain Horrible! I came to court so I could explain a ticket I got. I was in front of a magistrate by the name of Waldmann, he is a bully! He did not let me speak! He did not allow me to say WHY I was there, WHY I felt the ticket was unjust or what even happened. He did not allow me to state that I was the VICTIM of road rage. He yelled at me from the START! He threatened me. He was a bully and no better than the road rage driver!. When it comes time to have voters vote him back on the bench, I will be there to make sure the people know how he treats the people in his court room. I think he forgot that you are INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY in the name of the LAW. I have been in front of magistrates before and I have NEVER been treated so badly as I was in front of this one! I am in the process of making a formal complaint on this magistrate, no one should be treated so badly in...
