My mom and I were on this side of town and were starving, and needed something to eat. I pulled into this strip since there were several options of places to eat at, and we decided on this one since it sounded really good. I've heard plenty of positive feedback from others on this place, so we figured it was time to try it out.
Walking in, the place is spacious with plenty of seating. They have their menu up on big TV screens to view so you can read it while standing in line if there is one. We were the first people in right at 11 AM when they opened, so we got waited on immediately. It's a fast casual setting, so you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you.
Their menu's pretty traditional in the sense of what they offer. Item's like Gyros, Hummus, even Falafel! (I love a good Falafel.) and a few other items as well. My mom went with a salad, and I went with a Gyro pita with a pop and a Greek Salad. The person at the counter was super friendly and helpful. We both loved how they were knowledgeable about the food and answered the few questions we had about what came with it.
When the food came out, we both loved how good it tasted. It was extremely fresh and well worth the cost of what we paid. As someone who's had enough Gyro's and Greek Salad's in their day, this place does it fabulous! Even on the ride home, we mentioned just how good the food tasted.
So why only four stars instead of 5? While everything here was spot on, their price point's kind of expensive. My mom's salad was priced fine at $7.75, but if she had wanted a protein upgrade of Chicken, it would have been and extra $5. If she had gotten a drink, it would have been even more than that. The only entree's they have are dinner entree's and their priced in the $15 to $18 dollar range, not including any beverages. While the food and location's fabulous, $20 for a quick meal is expensive! I'm not a "cheap" person, but they could do some sort of lunch combo instead of charging $5 for every little add on.
I will be back in the future, so no worries there. This place is a fabulous healthy lunch and well worth a visit if...
Read moreReally glad I got around to trying this place. What prompted me to order was seeing a review about the avgolemono soup. The person stated it was too thin and could be compared to a Campbell's soup. I'd like to rebuttal saying that this is a TRUE AUTHENTIC version of chicken lemon rice soup. All that stuff you get at coney islands are full of thickeners to persevere it and so you're not actually getting a taste of what a homemade version actually tastes like. I grew up in a household that made this soup multiple times a year. Their verison is great, is the CORRECT consistency and has a lot of flavor. I like the touch of dill. It really made the soup for me. The soup came with pita. I try to avoid bread when possible, so I tried one square and it was excellent. Not too thick or bland, it was just right.
I additionally ordered a lamb skewer. I was curious to see how their lamb was. Most places do not have skewered lamb like this and what other places offer most times is mixed with beef or they just offer gyro, so the taste is always different. I ordered the skewer medium and it was cooked to perfection and has immense flavor. They offered a lemon edge with the skewer, so they know what's up in flavor town. I lastly ordered a side of rice pilaf. I am not sure what is going on with this rice. It tastes OK, but I feel like there is something off about it. I am not sure if they cook it in chicken broth (which is great because this is how I like it), but there is some kind of spice used I cannot put my finger on that doesn't do it for me. I'd still order the rice but probably with a bowl or entree next time.
SO- if you're looking to try some REAL Greek food and not a knock off version which I am always convinced gives Greek food a bad name, you must try this place! I am a forever...
Read moreWe hired the Great Greek as caterers for our wedding and they were INCREDIBLE! From the very start Carrie made every aspect of planning the food for my wedding seamless and easy! When our tasting was cancelled due to to COVID, Carrie personally delivered all of the menu choices to my parent's house so that we could taste everything without having to come to the restaurant. She also used to be a wedding planner in Vegas and was SOOO helpful about things in my wedding that didn't even really pertain to catering. She helped me with my timeline, also did her homework and gave good opinions on how much food to order and the overall guest experience at my wedding. She is organized, professional and honestly incredible.
Now, let's talk about the food, it was AMAZING! We were literally told by our photographer it was the best food he had ever had at a wedding. Literally everything they do is amazing, the grape leaves are spicy and delicious, the salmon kebabs are out of control and all the dips are fantastic.
The day of the wedding, they boxed everything up for us to have as leftovers. They were super prepared and brought a grill to ensure their pita was fresh, they arrived early AND actually came out to the space 3 days beforehand to ensure they were prepared to set up as we were having our wedding in a backyard. As a huge bonus, they are very affordable!
Cannot say enough good things, we are so glad...
