Disclaimer: I went about a week after they opened up since COVID, I want to return in a few months and give them another chance.
I went with my roommate and 2 friends, we waited a while to get seated but once we did our waitress asked us if we'd been there before and very nicely explained the menu to us since we hadn't been. After getting our initial drinks, our waitress was changed. Our first waitress had to go and cover bartending so we were assigned another. The next one didn't seem to know that we didn't get the waters that our first waitress said she would get. We got our waters, another round of drinks, and an appetizer. Then we waited about 45 minutes to see our waitress again, where she asked if we wanted other drinks and then quickly disappeared. We finally grabbed a separate waitstaff and asked if we could place an order. Our 2nd waitress came back, got our order, and didn't return with the drinks she had asked about previously...but instead asked again if we wanted any more drinks.
We finally got our food about an hour and a half after arriving. I am vegan, one of my friends has a dairy allergy. My food seemed to be correct, but my friend ordered the kale bowl and soy chorizo taco. She instead received a rice and beans bowl and some form of loaded soy chorizo taco -- both items which contain dairy. Someone who I think was the manager finally came around, my friend explained the mixup and her correct order was received. That same friend ended up having allergic reactions to dairy and she thinks there may have been dairy in the new order she received as well. The manager ended up comping a percentage of our food and giving us vouchers for one free taco at that location. My friends aren't exactly excited to use them there and I don't blame them, but I'm willing to give the location another chance once they've gotten used to COVID restrictions and hopefully have more staff.
Unrelated to my review: the restaurant is cute and cozy, parking is a nightmare.
Restaurant suggestions: Why is there dairy in your rice and beans? Your menu caters to gluten-free/dairy-free/vegan. Please make this option vegan, it's silly. If you could add more vegan appetizer options (maybe adding a vegan queso to the dips) that...
Read moreI have to say I will probably never be back to this restaurant.
I went to this place yesterday after work and I got to say the experience was lackluster,
First the parking lot for a truck was a mess to park and get in literally a zoo due to the location so that took around 5 minutes just to park to visit this place.
After walking in blond girl worker there saw me and I asked about take out, she told me just to sit at the bar so I did and never received a menu I had to get it from the person next to me if I could use theirs which was awkward as hell.
After 5 minutes one of the bartenders/servers finally got to me which I ordered 3 things, a shrimp taco, a chicken bacon ranch taco, and their smoked queso as recommend from the bartender and then told to pay. It took almost 20 minutes just for them to come back and take my money, which is an insane wait especially since there was maybe 10 other people at most in the restaurant and most of them were all ready waited on. And I had to wait 30 minutes on the food.
Then on top of that my order was 17.49 I paid 20.50 and only got $3. It might have only been a penny difference but still added to the experience.
Now on to the food. The food at most was mid, I ordered their shrimp taco without rice that's the only thing, tell me why it was sweet like I mean candy sweet, next their queso I was expecting it to be to be runny or soupy something easy to dip your chips in, when I opened up the container it was rock solid. I has to stick it in the microwave for a few minutes which you would think they would inform you of reheating but they didn't and their smoked queso was average at best. And last their ranch bacon chicken ranch taco, that... Was actually a 10/10 that was honestly the only thing good they really had there in my order but not enough to justify coming back.
Overall a bad experience and I will probably not come back I really thought this was going to be good Mexican food but I was brought to...
Read moreWhen we first walked in we were promptly greeted by two hostesses who didn't seem to be busy with anything other than waiting for people to help - chatting with each other while they did. After we told the girl closest to us that we needed a table for two she turned her back to us and continued her conversation with her coworker - they seemed to just be gossiping about something. After about 20 seconds of us awkwardly standing there we told her we'd sit at the bar and walked away.
The bartender was very sweet and informative and gave us a full walk through of the menu. With her guidance, we decided to order elote queso, two of the vegetarian tacos, and some margaritas with mango flavoring. Everything I had was just ok.
The elote queso was your basic plain cheese dip with a little bit of corn and cheese sprinkled on top. Not bad, but nothing I would bother paying for again. The chips it came with were obviously homemade which is great, but they felt and tasted like they'd been left out for a long time. Stale and almost chewy.
I think the meat tacos would have been great because I loved everything except for the pulled jackfruit on mine. It was my first experience ordering jackfruit after hearing so many people rave about it, saying it's almost exactly like pulled pork or chicken. It definitely was very obviously some type of fruit or vegetable. Didn't taste like any type of meat. My fiance told me that it never tasted like that to him and to take this experience with a grain of salt. I loved the other toppings and the double shell though!
Finally, the margaritas were very bland. Seemed like a cheap drink mix. When they added mango flavor it just made it overly sweet with no bite.
Overall I probably won't come here again. Someone that enjoys meat would probably love their...
