I just had a great customer service experience at the Eileen Fisher store at Bridgeport Village. Let me preface this by saying that I love the brand. About a quarter of my wardrobe and many of my shoes are EF. I count on EF for quality, and commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion. I’ve been to this store many times through the years. It’s always beautifully kept; the employees are professional and accessible. Last year at this time I bought an EF down-filled puffer jacket. I wore the heck out of all season long and it held up nicely. It’s finally cold enough to wear it again so I recently washed it carefully according to the instructions, and hung it to dry. Sadly, the arms shrunk about an inch in length, and the coat itself is about an inch shorter. It also came out of the wash with discoloration on the collar. I’m not sure why this happened since I’m careful with my clothing and I’ve never had a issue in the past with EF pieces. I brought the jacket to Darcy at the Bridgeport EF store. I explained what happened. I didn’t have a receipt. Darcy took the time to find my order in their system — an order from one year ago. I tried the jacket on and she could see that the arms were short. Darcy believed me. She listened and empathized, and issued a credit for the dollar amount of the jacket. This is exceptional service: finding ways to say “yes.” I’ve never had to return any item after a year, and I have never returned an EF piece due to a quality issue. Darcy and EF, you’ve earned my loyalty and respect. You will see me again...
