Oceanfront Dentistry - Drs. White & Heffelfinger — Local services in Virginia Beach

Update June 2020:

I travel a lot - so when I make my appointments 4-6 months out - sometimes they need to be changed. If you need to change an appointment here and want to see the same person, you will be waiting 4-6 months for the newest appointment. For me, having missed mine in Feb, resked for sometime in May, I was told July would be the first available. This happens a lot. I simply can't do it anymore. I've moved on to a place that can accommodate life changes and schedules without making you wait 9 months between cleanings.

This has been my dental office for about 10 years. I struggled for the first few years in Virginia Beach trying to find a good office to visit but a co-worker recommended this place and I never looked back!

I've seen a few gals over the years but my primary gal for cleanings is Kim. She's tiny and sweet and we have a great time chatting and catching up when I come in for my cleaning and routine exams.

Dr. Heffelfinger is my dentist and he is super friendly and remembers details about his patients when he comes to perform the exam.

I enjoy visiting this office. It feels homey, in a small beach house that has been added onto and expanded to comprise the office with surf and beach themed decor all...

Dr. White is the best! I don't handle tooth and mouth pain well and going to the dentist gives me anxiety due to a bad previous experience with another dentist. Dr. White and his staff put me at ease instantly. His caring nature is genuine. He won't perform procedures you don't need. He catches cavities early so he doesn't even need to numb you! No needles! And he explains what he's doing and when he'll stop ("3, 2, 1, done"). Your comfort and ease are important to him. He also teaches younger professionals and geeks out on the latest tech that helps him do his job. When he was doing a crown for me last year, he was all excited about a new machine he was using that makes the crowns right there in his office. He took me back to watch it being made. So no more having to get a cap put on until the crown is made and going back into the office to put the permanent crown on; it was all done right there in his office in like an hour. Best dentist I've ever...

So going to the dentist is usually right up there trying to explain cryptocurrency to my grandparents on the "Things I'd Rather Not Do" list. But my dentist? Oceanfront dentistry - Dare I say it... almost enjoyable?

The waiting room doesn't smell like fear and regret, which is a huge win. The staff is so friendly, they practically high-five you on the way in. ....Dr. White has a magical ability to wield those terrifying-looking tools of toothy doom with the grace of a concert violinist. They explain everything in plain English, like I'm an actual human being and not just a giant, walking set of molars. They're funny and very likable…the whole staff!!

My teeth are sparkling, my gums are healthy, and I left with a smile. So, if you're looking for a dentist who's good at their job, makes you feel comfortable, and might even make you chuckle, Oceanfront Dentistry, is the tooth fairy you've been...
