I had a negative review here previously, but in the last year or so, this has become my go to book store. John Michael and Tony specifically have been amazing at helping me find what I need and helping me find other things that interest me. My only issue is that sometimes the website stock isn't accurate, but that might be beyond them to handle. They have a great book selection here with a mix of new and old and east and west.
Old review: I usually buy used, but this BAM was closer after my errands so I went there...and I spent 20-25 minutes trying to understand what I was looking at. The fiction section leaves a lot to be desired in regards to organization. Most books are sorted by authors last name, but whoever is responsible for organizing the literature and fiction section is clearly distracted. I had a horrible time finding the book I was looking for because of the lack of consistency, and it wasn't newer texts and authors. The classics (Shelly and Stevenson) were randomly placed on three or four different sections of shelves. For some reason the Setterfield is placed in the Sh section. There is a small section of fiction between Wells and the Westerns that is completely unorganized. I thought originally it was dramas and literary commentary, but it was just a mishmash of random classics in no particular order. I went there to spend money not just browse, but this made it impossible to find what i was looking for, and I can't imagine how asking a sales associate would have helped given the state of the shelves. Whoever is responsible for the integrity of the organizational structure, it is obvious that it hasn't been...
Read moreYou get 1 star because 0 isn't an option! My Mom went shopping there for a few Christmas gifts last week. She found a cool reading light for my daughter. Upon checking out, she found a lot more reading lights in the knick-knack section. She decided to change the one she had for another one she found, which happened to be cheaper priced (ticketed on product) and seemed nicer. After checking out, she got to the car and thought the price seemed higher than what she anticipated. She double checked her receipt and realized the reading light rang up $13.99 instead of the ticketed price of $6.98. There were numerous lights hand ticketed at that price. She goes back into the store, lets the cashier know that she just bought this reading light but it rang up double what it was ticketed. The cashier responded with "Well, I can't sell it to you for that price". My jaw dropped. "I didn't ask you too, I was just letting you know that you have products ticketed wrong, you may want to fix it", replied my Mother. She still wanted the gifts, but the fact the cashier was so rude (my Mom didn't even ask to have the price matched, nor wanted to return the items), and the cashier didn't even offer any type of customer service or satisfaction, I will NEVER step foot into another BooksAMillion again!!! Customer service should be your #1 priority as a business and to be so rude and unaccommodating to a customer simply pointing out a mistake on your behalf, shame on you! It didn't even happen to me personally, but 1 negative experience from someone you know is all it takes!! Amazon and our local bookstore will get all of our...
Read moreI love books! So maybe I'm a little biased in this review but here it goes...this place is awesome! They've got books, games, accessories, figurines, apparel, and coffee! Plenty of parking, helpful staff, surplus of reading material and a lot of cool fan based items to satisfy the inner nerd in everyone (that's me 24/7). At one time they even had a special for customers who could catch a Pokemon in the store when the Pokemon Go App first came out. How amazing is that! Public restrooms are available so don't fret. I love this place however the only downside, to which I had an awkward experience, is the coffee vendor in the store. The staff can get pretty chatty and all up in your bubble. I just wanted a drink and a snack and to be left alone with my fiance and the one employee that was working just wouldn't stop joking/talking to us before, during, and after taking our order, and then even after taking our seats she still came up to us to talk. Kind of weird. But all in all AWESOME...
