Our visit to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was not the same experience that we’ve had in the past. Our visit was to the location in Warner Robins on Russell Pkwy, around the 7:30pm time frame on 11/24/2024. In short the dining area was not clean. The floors were not cleaned up so we ate our meal with the previous guests food scraps and trash under our feed as well as tables around us that were not cleared off after other guests had already left for some time. When the host came to clear a table for another guest it was observed that he used a wrap that was not clean instead of disposable wipes, he did use a spray but the table scraps were just pushed off onto the seats and the floor and the seats were not wiped down nor was the floor swept up. This went on for the duration of our meal. I do not even do this at my own home so I’m not sure why the staff feels that its okay to treat a customer this way at a place where they are paying to eat in place that is clean and comfortable. In regards to the meal it was good and what I expected it to be, with exception of the vegetables, they were cold when they came out. I spoke with the manager on duty and I fully expected to hear excuses about why things were left unkempt and he proceeded to explain all of the issues he was dealing with, staffing, others not doing their job, he put the blame on the host and said he had been trained and had been there a month and may have to be let go. The manager may have been working in the back, but if the facility was under staffed he is responsible for bringing in extra help or should at least come out and help his staff so they are able to focus on cooking and serving hot meals to the customers, and the guests can sit at a clean table and enjoy their time there. Our wait was 25 minutes so that should have been adequate time to have bussed the table, properly wipe it down and sweep under and around it. The manager didn’t seem to overly concerned about any of the issues I broutht up to him, other than to put the blame on his staff. I told him that if this is now going to be the norm for them at this location then I will not be returning. We have a lot of friends and I will also let them know what our experience was like so they can avoid having the same poor treatment as we did. I will give it some time and try again in the future and see if things change but if it remains the same I will not be eating at any Cracker Barrel in the future. As I mentioned at the outset this was not my normal experience so I hope to see major improvement. Just as a side note I am in the service businesses in the HVAC and Refrigeration and have frequented many restaurants and have noted that if a store isn’t concerned about the cleanliness of the dining area, it is also reflected in the kitchen, and restrooms as well. People have had a difficult experience with the COVID pandemic and cleanses and sanitary conditions should be the top of the list. Thanks for understanding and letting me express my concerns. I hope this is helpful to your Corporate Officers and that all locations can acquire to higher standards of safety and cleanliness. Sorry we didn’t get to take photos, it was late and we were just trying to get home from a long day on the road. Thank you for addressing my concerns once again. Please have a...
Read moreDisappointed in the service, the Togo order food, and overall experience. The store atmosphere is a 5, but the atmosphere around getting my order correctly, was skunkie! I ordered pickup 30 minutes before I got there. When I called to say I was there, the young man on the phone said I'd have to come in. I wasn't dressed to go in and had been outside a good while working. We live nearly an hour away so it wasn't like I could run shower and come back. I explained, I felt he didn't seem to care at all. Initially, when they brought our order out, I was confused as to why the strapping young man only brought half the order with him. He said it's all there. No! I was missing a complete dinner, two extra sides, a large tea, and an order of bread. Additionally, the guy, new to Cracker Barrel, argued with me when I told him my order of bread wasn't there. He said yes it is and pulled out the bread that goes with the two meals they did have right. Now, as I'm typing this, I realize they shorted me two additional breads that we should have had with the meal they'd forgotten. $8 extra muffins and biscuits I ordered; 5 of each were the ones missing, and I finally got them because the female manager went to get them boxed herself. Lastly, I felt the manager was making sure I did have all I ordered, but as I stood to go (it was taking so long, I had to go sit down in the dinning room. It was easier anyway to figure out what I was missing.) she turned around and asked, Do you want dessert or something to make you happy. I almost cried and or lashed out, it seemed condescending to me, but I smiled with all the sweetness I had left and said, No Ma'am thank you, were trying to not eat much sugar. Then I happened to think my husband had said he wanted pecan pie so I followed after her a couple of steps telling her, Ma'am if you have pecan pie I'll take you up on that. They didn't, it's only seasonal at Thanksgiving and Christmas I guess. The chicken tenders were the biggest disappointment. We've eaten at Dublin, GA's CB 5 or 6 times recently and their fried tenders look and taste great; like your Southern Grandma soaked them in buttermilk and floured them perfectly. Watson were flat and pretty much flavorless. By the time I finally walked in the house I knew they would be cold. They were so hard already I didn't dare heat them. Husbands shrimp were less than par by now to. Last thing, I asked for my generous tip back, since I had to come in and get food and no one actually served me; I do appreciate the cooks, but let's be frank, they'd of never seen it, and I was told the young man didn't know how to refund, neither did the female manager, nor did the male manager she went and asked. They said no one had ever ask for their tip back. People don't reward bad service, at least I don't. I do; however, generously tip those that go the extra mile to make my dining experience a pleasure. This ranks as one of the top two worst meals and experiences I've had at CB. BTW my cousin takes her dad to this very CB weekly and they usually have a nice breakfast. May be that I should stick to...
Read moreI was in town visiting my elderly grandparents while one of them was in the hospital. I decided to buy everyone, including my aunt, dinner. I wanted the orders to go since my grandparents are in their 90s and I wanted to enjoy dinner at their table.
I entered and went up to the cashier to put in an order. Both women standing there looked confused by my request of "I would like to place a to-go order." They instructed me to go to the hostess and place the order. I waited 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me standing there.
Our orders and individual reviews:
Grandpa: biscuits and gravy. His review: "Biscuits had the texture and taste of cardboard. The gravy tasted like it came from a powder with the consistency of glue for paper Mache."
Grandma: smokehouse chicken, baked potato and carrots. Her review: "The chicken was very good. It wasn't rubbery like [another restaurant I have ordered from in the paste]. The inside was still moist and the outside was cooked good. The baked potato tasted like it was cooked in the microwave. The carrots, no thank you."
Aunt: fried pork chops, side salad with no dressing and baked potato. Her review: "The pork chops were mid at best. The baked potato was hard in some spots like they reheated it in the microwave. They really need to offer balsamic, Italian or a fat free option for dressings. Honey Mustard and BBQ are not dressings."
Me: smoke house chicken, baked potato and side salad with no dressing. My review: "I didn't eat the chicken as I saved it for grandma for the next day to make a sandwich. So I can't speak to that. The salad was decent. I don't eat dressing on my salads so it was fine they only have dipping sauce flavors. The baked potato, I eat it plain and it did have the texture of a microwave potato."
I didn't order load baked potatoes and didn't notice I was charged for them until I got to my grandparents house. I don't know if that was supposed to be bacon in the mix of chives and cheese but it was raw. I don't eat pork and I know you can't eat bacon raw. I didn't try the biscuits but I can tell you that they were not fresh just from feeling them.
While standing there waiting to get the order, I watched 2 parties and one individual leave because they must have got tired of waiting for the hostess to come back and the people at the counter were too busy talking amongst their self to pay attention.
I drove all the way from the Sarasota, Florida area to visit my grandparents and this was my first stop in WR before I got to their house. This location is not one I will be back to anytime soon. At this point, between the one in Bradenton Florida near the 75 running out of their daily special by 5 and this location in WR, I can see that the Cracker Barrel brand has more issues than a new logo.
The only thing saving this from 1 stars all the way around is hat my 95 year old grandmother thinks the smoked house chicken is the best she...
