PLEASE READ: The building is beautiful on the surface. It’s not all it seems. Disregard the other reviews and please reconsider moving in. I have dealt with numerous issues since moving in that should not happen in a newly renovated building, where I am the very first tenant to live in the unit. In two months of living here, I’ve dealt with a broken microwave, a kitchen sink leak, a dishwasher that flooded my kitchen, ineffective sealing on my shower which caused an accumulation of water and have now been through two refrigerators as one broke and the replacement they gave me broke the following day. It is my view that the appliances were installed quickly and not properly. Additionally, there are trucks that load and unload materials for the neighboring buildings at all hours of the day- including starting at 5 AM on weekdays and in the evenings. The walls do not block any noise so I can hear everything- even people talking on the street. I have been forced to update my review from 3 stars to 1 star, as a result of a nightmare I am currently dealing with in the building. I came home to find my freezer off and everything was soaking wet and defrosted. I had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food and documented it all. Maintenance discovered I needed a new fridge. Keep in mind this one should be brand new as the building opened in July. They replace the refrigerator the next day. They have since refused to compensate me for all of the items I lost saying they need receipts— as if anyone keeps receipts for items that have been in their freezer. The next day, I wake up and the brand new refrigerator that they replaced the day before is completely off and not working. You cannot rely on anyone or anything to do anything properly in...
Read moreLiving at the Elle is more comparable to living in a luxury hotel than apartments I have previously lived in during my time in DC, especially from a staffing and service perspective.
Jasmine was, and continues to be, incredibly responsive, especially during my incessant questions during the move-in process. Her tour and help with questions after our initial tour if a big part of the reason we ended up in this building in the first instance - she is a complete pro. Eston, who is at the front desk, would be at home working the front desk at a top tier hotel or anywhere else. The buildings and its residences are incredibly lucky he’s at the Elle, though! As a small example he’s often aware of packages that have arrived for me before I’m aware of them! He got to know us days after our move in and helped make the building feel like a home!
The staff also have planned numerous thoughtful events during my few months here that have been a lot of fun and clearly have been the result of work and thoughtfulness of the team that works here. The result has been
The rooms are also quite nice, which is unsurprising as they are brand new. The only issues we have had is a slight issue with the wiring that leads to occasionally having to flip the circuit breaker for kitchen appliances but this has only happened a few times and we’ve been informed they’re working on a resolution. Given this is a brand new building it’s impressive that’s the only wrinkle we’ve run into.
In sum 5/5 stars, mainly thanks to the fantastic team...
Read moreWe moved into a 1-BR + Den a month ago and are absolutely loving it. The staff are all extremely friendly and professional, any questions or maintenance problems are immediately addressed, and the luxury vibe of the lobby and the top-of-the-line apartment fixtures (especially dishwasher, refrigerator, thermostat, and W/D) are a welcome respite after a hard day of work. I appreciate the effort they make to bond the residents, like waffle breakfasts and ice cream socials, though most residents seem to prefer to keep to themselves. Rent is expensive, but it is all-inclusive: Elle/Bozzuto is up front with all costs and do not try to add extra add-ons like other DC apartments (e.g. for reserving the elevator). Great gym and rooftop couches with fire pits, and if you have a dog, the dog run and pet spa on Floor 9 make all the difference. The area feels downtown/corporate: boring but quiet and safe, with well-lit wide sidewalks, which is exactly what we were looking for. The only caveats I have noticed is that the walls are paper-thin, and the shower has the lowest water pressure I have ever seen. Otherwise we are very happy...
