For an organization that wants to solve global problems at scale, and believes everyone’s voice should be heard - it does not walk the talk. The New York office of which I was a part is rife with bullying, abuse, racism, cronyism, misogyny and scaremongering. The NY Office Head, Sofia Borges, runs the office like a fiefdom, bestowing favors on her pets in NY, and ostracizing, belittling and destroying the reputation and work of those who didn’t kowtow and lavish her with flattery. The irony is that she promotes and favors those, who, like her, do the bare minimum/spent more time gossiping than working on programs.

Borges was the primary reason I left UNF - her behavior towards me left me physically and mentally unwell, and I needed treatment for both. It was the best decision I made for my career leaving the toxic environment in the NY office. While still at UNF I did make a number of complaints to HR, but Borges had a close friend in HR who ensured no formal complaints were investigated or reported to senior management in D.C.. With the number of people leaving UNF around the same time that I did, I find it hard to believe the head office in D.C. were completely oblivious. The bullying and mistreatment was at the level that even though I had left, I was anxious that there would be blowback for me if I needed a reference while she was still there. It is a gift for UNF that people like Borges leave the organization - as I hear she has just done, as it gives hope that the culture may change, as the purpose is still good.

While I was heartened to hear Borges has since left, I also heard that she is planning to return after a year. Clearly UNF and senior management are all too ready to reward managers and employees who go against the very grain of the spirit and values of the...

The UN has been set is stone. They handle the needs of connecting government through organizations.

In 2006, I attended an economic conference. The pin was made in China. No one wore it, because of the quality. This pin is from the 2022 annual IMF meeting. The bur and bent pin make it unwearable. The backing won't work.

We lead with our best foot forward. Is our best foot, "16 years of unwearable pins?". The UN looks nice from the outside. I want to meet the guy inside refusing to take pin orders for Italy,...

This is not the UN, for those who may be mistaken from the name of this organization. This is a layer that is used to funnel government money and cover for something that does not exist. Just read the reviews. Feel the fake -...
