I’ve lived in Wasilla for 19 years...Sonic has been open for 2 months and it’s already the single worst fast food experience I’ve ever had. Let me just say that I am not a picky customer at all. I set my expectations LOW when I go out to eat anywhere in the valley and I always tip 20% regardless of the experience, but this place disappointed me in ways I was not prepared for.
We got in the drive through approximately 20 minutes before closing (9:40) and there were 5-6 cars in front of us. We didn’t get to the speaker until 10:10....30 minutes for 6 cars. When we got to the box to place our order the girl on the other end was super friendly and awesome, but she regrettably informed us that they were out of tater tots, poppers, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, popcorn chicken, and probably a bunch of other things, but those were all of the things I tried and failed to order. As somebody who works in the food industry, my assumption (not a fact but my guess) is that whoever was left in the building was too lazy to work the fryer for another order, so they were telling the drive through girl to just tell us that they were out of everything. The alternative is that the management is so incompetent that they literally ran out of half of their menu on a MONDAY. Ultimately I told the girl thanks for trying but we’re gonna go somewhere else. So we went to Wendy’s and it was awesome.
I get that these kids make minimum wage so I don’t hold it against them, but there’s absolutely no way in hell I’m ever going back to this dumpster fire of a restaurant. Whoever opened this place took on way more responsibility than he’s capable of handling. ...
Read moreI went in today at about 3pm with my 8yr old and my 1 yr old, we were all very hungry, saved our appetites for sonic. we had not had sonic in about 5 years and rarely make it out to wasilla so being that we were in the area we knew the traffic we would be up against and decided to brave it anyway. we were going to sit in the drive through but ultimately decided to go in. the line was long but moved fairly quickly, once we ordered we sat down and waited for our food, i didnt time but if i had to guess it was maybe 20 minutes, which was really quick considering they were not only cooking for the full dine in area but the load of cars outside wrapped around the parking lot. i witnessed a handful of people complaining of wrong items, all relatively pleasant and understanding. there were some people complaining of cold items. one guy wanted a refund when he waited too long (which would be a given if he witnessed the traffic he had to get through just to get to the parking spaces) my items were correct but only the fries seemed warm not cold our sandwiches/burgers were hot. i just really wanted to say the team responded appropriately even in the face of upset customers, they were calm, courteous, and still wore smiles in the public eye. my youngest at one point drank all his water and was still thirsty, i asked a staff member if we could get more water and without hesitation she got it for us. it was slightly stressful for me because my kids were hungry and impatient but i knew what we were getting ourselves signed up for by simply driving in to the parking lot. so good job team and hold on hope it wont always be this crazy busy and people wont always...
Read moreDrive thru line wait time is a nightmare. There is a real problem with customers chatting about things unrelated to placing an order (and the drive thru employee indulging it while 20 people in line get to listen) or customers asking 3 dozen questions about a fast food order. (Its fast food, not filing your taxes. By the time you get to that drive thru speaker you and everybody in your vehicle should know exactly what you want). Finally get to drive thru speaker and not even acknowledged for 5 minutes. I had to say "hello?" 3 times in five minutes before it was acknowledged they knew I was there. After placing my order it was another wait in line to the pay window. Kid in the window was real friendly and great attitude. He apologized for the wait time and made me feel special (I bet he says that to all the customers). Off I went with my food. My double cheeseburger was kind of warm/room temp and my fries were cold like they'd been sitting on the counter for 20 minutes. For my first Sonic burger experience this was kinda eh. The experience of actually getting the food with the lengthy wait times is on it's own enough to discourage me from wanting to come back. The food being cold doesnt help either. This store needs to figure out how to move these people along with warm food in hand. Cut the chatterbox, 100 question people off some how. Throw signs up encouraging people to be prepared to say "#2 please!" And move along. Be considerate to the 200 people behind you. Maybe I'll try it again someday. Visited...
