A Moviegoer's Haven: MJR Waterford Cinema
I recently had the pleasure of visiting MJR Waterford Cinema 16, and it's safe to say that this theater offers an exceptional movie-going experience overall. From its comfortable seating and excellent movie selection to a tempting concession stand, MJR Waterford has a lot to offer to cinephiles and casual moviegoers alike.
Let's start with the seating – a paramount aspect of any cinema experience. The moment I settled into my plush, generously spaced seat, I knew I was in for a treat. The theater boasts top-notch comfort, making it easy to immerse myself in the movie without any distractions. Whether you're watching an epic action blockbuster or a heartwarming drama, the cozy seating enhances the overall enjoyment of the film.
When it comes to the movie selection, MJR Waterford Cinema truly shines. They seem to have a finger on the pulse of what movie enthusiasts crave, offering a diverse array of films from various genres and styles. From the latest Hollywood blockbusters to independent gems and foreign films, there's something to cater to every taste. Additionally, the theater frequently hosts special screenings and events, adding an extra layer of excitement for movie enthusiasts.
One area where MJR Waterford slightly misses the mark is its concession stand. While the offerings are undeniably delicious and tempting, I couldn't help but notice the steep prices. Treating yourself to a bag of popcorn, soda, and some candy can easily result in a hefty bill. Although I understand that theaters rely on concession sales, it would be more enjoyable if they could find a balance between quality and affordability.
On the bright side, the concession stand does excel in the variety and quality of its offerings. From classic popcorn to gourmet flavors and a selection of refreshing beverages, there's something for everyone to indulge in. They also offer healthier snack alternatives for those looking to watch their intake, which is a thoughtful touch.
In conclusion, MJR Waterford Cinema is a haven for movie lovers, providing a top-tier movie selection and unparalleled comfort with its cozy seating. Although the concession stand can be a bit pricey, it shouldn't overshadow the overall experience. Whether you're a cinephile searching for the latest releases or simply looking to unwind with a good film, this theater is worth a visit. I will undoubtedly be returning to MJR Waterford for my next...
Read moreWe hadn't been to MJR in over a year when we visited a few months ago, so when we walked in 15 minutes early, every seat had been booked. That's OK, rules changed! We had to wait another 30 minutes to get into a movie with spots that wouldn't be in the very front.
So the second screening that night, we were able to nab two seats together two rows up from the large middle walkway. It was also the first time using the reclining seats.
We were both extremely uncomfortable in the new seats. I don't know if it's our height (5'7-5'9), but the bottom edge of the headrest pillow was at the top of our heads when we reclined, which forced your chin slightly towards your chest. If you have to look up because you're in a lower row of seats, it pains your neck terribly.
Sitting up was almost as bad, as there's zero lumbar or seat support, so your body is forced to sink into the back of the chair. (This is a bit less noticeable when reclined.) Both of us were squirming after 30 minutes and I couldn't stand it, having to keep good posture sitting towards the edge of my seat.
I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem at all if you're in the top row and you don't have to look 'upwards' at all, or if your height is a bit taller (so your head is properly in the center of the pillow) or shorter (so you miss it entirely).
I really miss having a proper supported chair having to sit for that long. I think the recliner idea is amazing, but I don't think the structure of the chairs was taken into account or worse, was skirted entirely for a lower cost.
If it works for you, great! But we won't be able to come to MJR anymore (at least anytime in the next 5 years!), as we don't usually get guaranteed coverage for babysitting until an hour or so before a movie time, and we'd never be able to book a top seat in time to even try. (We try to watch a movie within a week, as we want to avoid spoilers from waiting longer)
Thank you for your years of fun! I don't know if anyone else has the same problems or not. I'm sure we can certainly come again if the top seats are OK and the kids can...

MJR Dear Managment of MJR Waterford,
Deciding to take in a movie on this past Christmas Eve, my husband and I attended the 6 pm showing oh Mufasa in 3D. It was enjoyable, the seats comfortable, popcorn delicious, but the best part of our movie experience was the personal service of your staff on duty that evening. I’d somehow dropped my new Carhartt winter hat, a gift I’d received just hours before. Losing it took the shine off of a great movie experience. Retracing my steps, I was sure I’d dropped it before we got into the theater. I checked with someone regarding a list and found, and was disappointed the no one had turned it in. To be safe, we went back into the theater, to check where we were sitting. Your crew cleaning the theater sensed my angst and moved chairs and helped with a thorough search, but to no avail. My disappointment was obvious. They must have sensed it. Radios crackled alive, and soon it seemed like your entire staff was on the lookout for my hat. One worker radioed out to another in the lobby alerting that I was on my way out. “They’ll find you and get your number. Things often show up, eventually.” I left my name and number, feeling a little better for their full fledged effort. I got a call Christmas Day, that it had been found. We’ll be in our way out to retrieve it today. But, I thought it only fitting that whomever “the boss” might be at your organization, be made aware that the most excellent staff on duty Christmas Eve, led by a young man named Sully, went above and beyond for a customer. The faith I’d thought I’d lost in people when I’d thought no one had turned in my hat, was completely restored by your staffs caring and concern.
Thank...
