Update one year later: my family and I decided to book a room for 2 nights to get away as we live with family. The first room they gave us was AWFUL, the celling was obviously leaking, it was missing celling tiles and the "hardwood floor" was pealing up and would just stab you in the foot. The lock was broken on the door and my 2 year old could just walk out of the room at any point we complained and they let's us pick our room from 3 options which one they said the ac didn't work, we finally got settled in the nicest looking room they had and the room never cooled off it was really hot thankfully it wasn't too bad we just opened the window, except there was no screen so again not safe for my 2 year old. We paid 230 bucks for an awful time. As soon as you walk in the hotel it stunk highly of cat pee and being 36 weeks pregnant I'm not supposed to be around cat pee like that. Even my youngest said it smelled like cat pee bad. We took the kids down to the pool to go swimming and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days, you could feel rocks under your feet and see the filth in the corners. There was trash laying around the outside of the pool too my 2 year old found a lighter on the ground along with water bottles and balls of hair. Now that we are home my 2 year old is also sick, constant runny nose and a cough. This place is so dirty and disgusting please just go somewhere else. I honestly just wish I had my 200 bucks instead of every going there. We live near by and use to come every couple of months just for the hell of it but we will be finding a new place to freakquent. Who ever is in charge clearly has no compassion for the place and it's only a matter of time before the health department shuts them down. I already gave them a call myself. This is the worst place hands down. So sad to see too. I've been coming here since I was a child, a little stay-cation spot for many in the area. I've seen this place at its best & its worst and I'll have to say I've never had to clean my own room first. The new owners have done a good job with what's been updated, hallways, paint outside, new bedding and curtains (just things I noticed) Now I know they took thuis place over when it was in bad shape, but that is no excuse for the cleanliness of the room. I've attached multiple photos. I cleaned housed for 4 years and these kinds of things don't build up after a day or 2 of sitting empty. After my son was up coughing half the night I decided to check the filters to the heater in the room and they were absolutely disgusting, which wasn't surprising after laying in bed and looking up to find giant cobwebs in every corner of the room. The top of the fridge was dusty and never wiped down, not to mention the fridge was uneven and broken inside, with frozen ice in the frezzer that had old food or something stuck inside. All the mirrors were dirty with spots and smears. There was mold in the grout around the tub and inside the toilet. The pool was finally open tho which was nice although it was a little slimy. If you choose to stay here just bring your own cleaning supplies. Definitely disappointing as it was pretty gross. The updates are nice but it's not going to madder if they don't clean it.

This is a perfect hotel for persons visiting the area that need a simple hotel experience or anyone seeking a longer term stay at a place. This is not a four star hotel. This is a mid 2/3 star hotel (mid service - don't mean overall rating) that is a perfect for persons like me that are laid back and simply want a quiet, clean, friendly place to stay. First the staff: They are not stuffy or too over the top proper - they are easy going and there for you if you have a question or need, with a smile. Otherwise, you are left alone peacefully until you call upon them. From the front desk to housekeeping. This is what I like. Daily housekeeping with knocks at the door early in the mornings are okay if I am on a family vacation or something, but on an extended stay or even on a short stay if not a vacation - I don't need early wakeups or be bothered by housekeeping. However, when you do need something, they will handle your needs, quickly, and with politeness. The hotel: Not perfect. Could use some paint work in areas, maintenance issues, and general updating. But this is an older building and was previously a different brand of hotel that I feel got out of hand. Now being an American Inn, good staff, I have a feeling things within the building will improve over time. But I personally think that is fine, again - this is not a 4-Star $200/night place. This is a local VERY reasonably priced hotel. And it is quite a large hotel for the area. Rates: For the size of rooms (even the basic rooms), location, pool, etc. - the rates are great! And during off periods, they will try and help with even better prices. Rooms: Sure, again, older hotel under a better brand now - rooms could use some updating. But even in basic rooms, you are getting a fridge, micro, good tv, even a jacuzzi tub. And you can go up to some pretty good actual suites. Pool: Great size pool. Indoor even. All year round. Newer hotels just do not install pools this size anymore. Enough said. Bottom line. Willing to stay at a place that may not be perfect, needs a little work, but you would enjoy someplace that is local, close to many stores and activities (even walking distance) as well as restaurants, that is very pet friendly, clean, quiet, and comfortable, as well as having a friendly staff in every area - with very good reasonable rates - here you go. This is a great place for you. Only One Small Negative (but on the minor side to me) is there is no breakfast here. Which is actually fine to me because once you start having full breakfasts for a large place the rates start going up. But I also feel the hotel could probably offer a simple continental breakfast for not much investment. There is 24 hour coffee available (lobby area - but rooms do have coffee makers).

The website shows nice pictures of the hotel. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! Upon arrival the lobby floors were dirty like they hadn’t been vacuumed for a while. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and nice. The stairs leading up to the other floors were filthy. We opted to take the elevator and it was in disrepair. Entering the second floor, the carpet was dirty. All of the doors to the rooms have scribbling on them like a child wrote in all of the doors. We got to our room and, at first, it just looked like it needed to be updated. No big deal. Upon further inspection, there were cobwebs, the refrigerator was dirty and ice build up. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months! The way the tub and shower looked, there was no way I would have used it!! There was a product cap in the dirty corner behind the door. Our toilet was dirty and there was BLOOD on the back of the toilet behind the seat by the tank. Our door had a gap in it and the safety latch was loose. The door wouldn’t latch when closed. We had to push it closed. My husband stated we would have to barricade the door for safety if we stayed. We went to check the pool. The elevator by the pool didn’t work so we took the stairs. The stairs were covered in garbage. Food wrappers, candy wrappers, crushed crackers, etc. When we reached the bottom, a storage closet door was kicked in and there were beer cans and small liquor bottles on the floor along with trash. We looked at the pool and the whole pool deck area was messy and the pool looked super cloudy and a little yellow. There was something at the bottom of the pool. The far wall looked like there was mold growing in it. We had discovered from a resident in Waterford that this hotel is used as a halfway house and is known for drug use. We did not stay!!!! We left as soon as we heard what this place was used for! We had a small children with us and NO WAY DID WE FEEL SAFE!! The hotel refuses to issue refunds unless you initiate within 15min of arrival. So not only is it a dump but it’s ran by crooks!!! They know their hotel is trash but they still rent rooms at $160 a night!!! I have stayed at $60 a night motels that were nicer and safer!! DO NOT RENT A ROOM HERE!!!! This place should be shut down and the health department notified!

Let's start from the beginning. I have asthma. Walked into the lobby and it smelled like cigarettes I thought no big deal just from someone coming in from outside bc there were people in line. Get checked into our room and we took the elevator. Looks terrible in their stuff is duct taped and looks very unsafe and no stable at all. Go to the room and hallways smelled like cigarettes was hopeing it was just me and we get into the room and what do you know it gets way worse. First thing we noticed when we set our stuff down was how dirty the room is. Lampshade has either dried blood or more realistically food something idk and it wasn't just one shade I can get one shade being dirty you miss things whatever no it was every shade and one of the lights didn't even work. There was a plastic bag on the smoke detector we couldn't reach to get it off. Brought some snacks with us because we drove from a couple states away for family. Went to put the snacks in the fridge and we were met with mold and crusted on food. Seeing the state of the hotel and the room we checked for bed bugs and thankfully didn't find anything. Went out to buy cleaner bc we had to clean our own room since they refused to refund or move us and we didn't have another option. Cleaned the room bc we thought it was the room and found out that the smell is coming from the bathroom vent so we shut the door and put a towel in the threshold to stop as much of it as possible but it still wasn't enough. The lock on the bathroom door didn't work and the internal lock on the door had been nailed down TWICE WITH WOOD SHIMS was ghetto after. The desk chair had stains all over it, the ironing board had stains all over it. Opened a window while we cleaned to get the smell of smoke and chemicals out and the window got stuck open so we had to ask front desk to close it for us. The guy working there the maintenance man with those shorts looking like a bum I thought he was a tennat was very rude. Blamed us for the window getting stuck and not his ghetto halfway house hotel. Read reviews on the hotel and found out the reason why the pool was closed was because they had let it get nasty and filled with bacteria and it was making people sick. First day out our four day stay. Second day we used the stairs instead of the elevator and the stairs leading all the way up are caked with dirt and god knows what. The hotel doors all got this weird black smeared stuff on them that they couldnt even sand or restain so that looks ghetto. Computer room with one computer has the staffs kid or tennats kid in their 24/7 so no one else can use it and he's just playing games all day long so now one that needs to get work done is able to get it done. The bathroom shower head hadn't been replaced probably since they built it bc of how much mineral deposit was on it. You tried to turn on the vent in there and it sounded like a damn airplane was taking off and I would know too bc the aviation warehouse was right next door so that's what you hear all night long is planes and jets taking off. Everything was so so filthy. The entire time I stayed there they have a filthy breaking bad meth lab van parked out front. Hotel has posted no large animals but obviously they don't enforce it because in the hallway to our room we were stopped by two pits..... Terrible place do not come here you get...

So we got the Presidential Suite for two nights. It won't get better than that at thos hotel.

Unfortunately its very obvious that the staff is usually not that busy so when you ask for additional accommodations its clear they would rather be somewhere else. They are initially friendly, and to be clear no one was rude. However there is an immediate energy shift when you ask for more towels or a remote control for your room.

I can't speak for any of the other rooms, but as far as the presidential suite... the toilet was leaking throughout the whole time. So turning the water off was the only solution. Seems like a staff member could have easily fixed it. The toilet was leaking upon arrival so we immediately made ourselves the "needy ones" by asking for more towels which they were clearly resistant to do.

A room came with a jacuzzi and only half of the jacuzzi jets worked. It just made me feel like I could not ask the staff for any help about anything.

Also , i'm not a fan of the carpeted rooms. Many hotels have carpeted rooms, but with a big family.I recommend hard surface floor so they're easier to clean, particularly at a place like this. The staff really gives off a vibe that they are not cleaning things optimally. And you know there were some secrets lying in those carpet fibers.

Without a vacuum in sight , I asked for housekeeping to help and they apparently only come by every three days. This place is clearly some type of sanctuary..

There is also a nasty dog smell that comes and goes. Pets are welcome, thats all fine but with that comes an awful smell. And some people let there dogs (although on a leash) come up to you and start sniffing you out and stuff and for people like myself... I am not trying to get ot know you or your dog. Please real them in faster than that.

There is also a vibe about this place. You can tell they are harboring the homeless or something like that. Thats fine, but the standards were certainly lower probably becasue of this.

The "arcade room" was quite underwhelming and the pool area was completely empty and gave a vibe of unclean uncredited for. Smelled a little too much like bleach although it was somewhat tolerable.. but the pool room itself was very hot due to the sauna they have. It's impressive that they have a sauna but it made the entire pool area just a little too hot for those that wanted to stand by a not swim. I felt like the pool had not been cleaned in a long time.

I should also mention that the lights in the presidential suite. We're very dim and it made the experience kind of gloomy on top of everything else. Luckily, my family and I really needed to get away so we made the most of it, but this isn't a place we would come back to. And this is supposed to be the best room they have. And I can confidently say we will not return. I can give this place a generous 3...
