Hi, normally I am not one to leave negative reviews but the experience I just had at Micheals in Waterford prompted this. My roommate and I were wandering the aisles trying to think through a few crafts we want to do. We were unaware that they closed at 7, as we weren’t informed when we walked in at 6:45; there were also no announcements. Maybe we should have googled it and at this point I’m sorry we didn’t.
While looking at different paints an employee came up and said: “is there anything we can help you with?” and we said no thank you.
About five minutes later, another employee approaches us.
The conversation went as follows:
Employee: can we help you find anything?
Me: no thank you, we’re just looking.
Employee: well we’re closed so i was just wondering if we could, you know, speed up your shopping.
My roommate and I, pretty much at the same time: oh my god we didn’t realize we’re so sorry.
Employee, while shrugging: well that’s while the lights were off *its two strips of lights in a warehouse sized building - almost impossible to realize.
I immediately put what I’m looking at back, while my roommate goes to check out.
To make it clear, I don’t mind if someone tells me the store is closing. That’s totally fine. And I get it’s irritating to have customers in your store when it’s closed. But there is a way, a POLITE WAY, to tell someone that you...

When shopping in the Frames Department, "They Tired" and that was the justification for them to be rude and have an attitude with me asking tons of questions about their sales promotion. It was confusing and I wanted to make sure the frames I was buying were part of the promotion. At checkout I asked to speak to the manager and to my surprise I was already. Janice was her name. I went back to the Frames Department to re-look at the signage. I spoke to the lady that was back there radioing Janice. Dawn was her name. She talked over me and patronized me. When I told Janice I didn't appreciate it and wanted an apology, she called Dawn out and let Dawn talk over her and myself. Needless to say, there was no apology and when I got more upset Janice & Dawn ganged up on me. So if you are confused in the Frames Department, might as well just figure it out yourself. Walked in today, the main front display area is Halloween ?? skulls, caskets, headstones ??, aisles now have kitchen utensils !?! The flower garland aisle that used to be bustling is non-existent, no more cute decorative storage boxes - what happened? I know Michael's has been all over the news lately having bought the Joanns line of yarn but at this rate will our beloved Michael's be the next Joanns? I hope not. It's sad too that the customer service is just GONE, the kind hearted employees you'd encounter in the aisles, asking if you needed any help have vanished, at the checkout you're basically forced to the odd self checkout tablets.
