Smashburger — Restaurant in Waterford

I'd give them a 2.5/5. I ordered a custom burger that had aged cheddar, jalapenos, grilled onions, bacon and smash sauce with a side of smash fries and a fountain drink. When i ordered i asked the worker who was taking my order what the smash sauce is comprised of, and which she told me mayo, mustard, and relish. When i asked her she seemed like she was not ready for any questions at all. When i gave her the cash, she took a while to get the change it seemed like she was spacing out or something. Lots of blank stares, kind of odd. She also forgot to give me my cup for my fountain drink, so i had to ask for it afterwards too. The burger patty was dry and didn't have any flavor. It just tasted very plain, no type of seasoning on the meat all. I couldn't taste any of the toppings except for the jalapenos sometimes. The smash sauce just looked like plain mustard, it didn't appear to have relish in it unless if they puree it or something. The onions just added texture, was unable to taste them at all. If i divided up the toppings in my mouth as i was chewing i could taste them but when combined, i couldn't taste them at all. I could not taste any cheese at all, but it was on there. I think it was the combo of the dry meat, and the flavorless smash sauce. I did enjoy the smash fries. They are shoestring fries and a good light flavor. I think if i got a chicken breast sandwich they would've gone really well with it. The fountain drinks were overly bubbly. I tried the dr. pepper and the coke, and both had too much soda water and made it feel like there was a hole in the straw as i was drinking it. They do have honest tea which was good since its not carbonated. Overall, i think $12 for a meal there is about $2-3 overpriced. The burgers & fries at Five Guys are better, have way more flavor and are around the same price point. I even feel like the burgers at even the large food chains (fridays, friendlys,...

Leaving this review here and on yelp so hopefully more people will see this. I never leave reviews but I've genuinely never had an issue like this before so I think that everyone should be aware. The food is great I'd honestly just recommend ordering online and double checking that it's done correctly. My boyfriend and I came here after playing a game next door at prowess, we did come in a little late so understandable that they wouldn't be the happiest but we came in around 8:50 and they only close at 10. We were done eating by 9:40 and out the door. I was just excited to be going out with my man because we genuinely never have time but we walked in and the lady up front is already mad. We only ordered two burgers, some tots, and a drink. she scoffed the whole time we were ordering; made us restart the whole order twice because we just added a couple things to the burgers, then kept yelling (genuinely yelling, not a joke) at my boyfriend (who's very soft spoken, just how he was raised) just for ordering a little quietly (mind you it was very quiet in there, there was only one other table at the time). I'm just disappointed because we went here before and the cashier was super nice but this time we got Dawn who was overall disrespectful towards us for just getting a meal. I've worked in both retail and waitressing. There's no reason to act like that to somebody who is literally just coming in to eat. I don't know if anyone ever had similar experiences here but genuinely just terrible. I just wish I had said something while I was there. We will not be going back, plenty of places near here that you can go where you will be treated like a human being.

Update:Came in like usual to get my grilled chicken sandwich with avocado to have the worker tell me that Smashburger has changed their menu and they no longer have that item. I felt like air deflating out of a balloon. So I got a burger, which was ok, over cooked not flavorful like the chicken sandwich. Def not a redo for me. This time place was unkept and the manager was yelling at her staff because they couldn't keep up with the quanity of orders. Decided to give another try. Came in to find a chicken burger now. Wasnt bad, flavorful. Liked it! Previous We always eat at Wayback burger, but a friend was raving about Smash Burger, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and a woman was cleaning, now that's my kind of place. Came in to the menu, have different varieties of burgers but also had chicken sandwiches. We ordered one burger and one chicken. You can order reg fries, smash burger fries, sweet potato fries, and i think tots, but we ordered regular. Got our number and waited at whatever table we chose. Wasn't long, and we got our food. Each was very flavorful, and I liked the bun it was on. Fries were hot and shoestring like. Saw again people cleaning and tidying up. There is nothing worse than a dirty restaurant. As we were leaving we were asked how we enjoyed our meals. We gave a thumbs up. Nothing went wrong. it was a perfect day. Every time I come in, this guy Tanner goes over n beyond to make your experience comfortable. He asks for your order, then comes around and asks how everything is, and if you need something, he goes and gets it. Exceptional customer service. Has never happened anywhere I have gone.
