The store itself is fantastic very well stocked but mercy when the checkout lines get backed up the cashiers don't call for backup.
Yesterday while there, i looked at my phone when I got in line, it was 2:30. There were 3 people infront of me with only 1 checkout open and the only other was for returns /exchanges.
That's fine but there was an older couple in their 80s infront of me who looked like they were about to pass out, waiting on the group infront of them buying a cartload of items.
After 10 minutes of waiting in line the older woman tried several times to get someone's attention. When the return line called for backup a lady with an iPad (probably a supervisor) came, fixed the problem but then was oblivious to the growing line we were in, she started chatting it up. Then, the manager, maybe even district manager, came up front and he too joined in the group chatting.
Granted they opened a 2nd lane 4 aisles down but it was underneath the "Return" signage so neither the couple infront of me nor I went bc we thought it was returns only. Sadly, it wasn't and we watched people who hadn't been waiting in our line walk up check out and leave while we were Still waiting.
Finally, a girl in her 20s opened a register on the far left by the fall decor and the couple infront of me and I went.
I got to the checkout the clerk asked how I was and I said okay, minus waiting 15 minutes to check out. (I said this in an even tone voice not angrily) . I asked, " In the future, do you think it would be okay to ask a manager to open another lane."
I explained why I said this and she said, "Well you can ask but depending on when it is they may not have people to put on the register."
I have worked customer service for years followed by project management work and her answer was irritating. She could've just left it at "Yes, and I am sorry you had to wait so long."
To try and turn the other cheek I said, "I realize it isn't your fault but the older people infront of me had been waiting even longer than I had and they looked in a lot of pain having to stand so long."
She replies, "Well, the wait gets Even Longer during Christmas time." (Which again to most people would be a Rude thing to say bc it's obvious Christmas is much worse and again she should've said "I am sorry, your previous cashier should have called for backup or something similar."
Seriously, Hobby Lobby please please please train your cashiers to apologize for a long wait (ie. When lines are 8+people long etc) and train them what to say in general. That was mediocre customer service at best I experienced today, bordering on downright rude and know it all behavior on the clerk's part.
Also, when you have lines 5-10 people deep call for backup. It doesn't make sense when you see several managers workers chatting it up at the front when backup cashiers are needed! And there were atleast 15 people working the floor area, too.
Y'all lost business today. I saw at least 4 people walk up, see how long the line was and they dropped their stuff and left. Those were LOST Revenue.
From now on I will think about ordering from Amazon or going to the Pearland Parkway Location where they do call for backup and I've seen the supervisor ring up customers, too when its extra busy.
I am sorry this is so long, but by the time I checked out around 2:45 the managers were no longer at the front to tell so I am posting this here in hopes...
Read moreI go to hobby lobby all the time however this was the first time I went into the location in Webster, Tx. Boy will I not be doing that ever again!! My experience started off on a bad note when I was trying to return something that was given to me as a gift. I explained that I didn’t have the original card because it was a gift and the lady behind the counter just told me to hold on and she went to grab a manager. No explanation no nothing. Then this lady who is supposedly the manager, Nakita I think her name was, came over and started reciting a return policy to me and didn’t even ask me anything before hand. When I told her I didn’t care how it was returned or what type of payment form the return came in she flipped her attitude upside down and started being nice to me. Like what the heck kind of customer service is this place promoting. Rude manager and not to bright cashier. Then after the return is over I start going through the store and it’s like they do t even want you to have a cart while you’re in there. Every isle you go down has large boxes in the middle of it and you have to go all the way around to get to the other side. (This was Tuesday at around 3pm) When I was checking out to leave I encountered another “manager” this was an Arabic lady I didn’t catch her name but she was talking about another customer to another employee and I found that to be very inappropriate as well. When she saw that I could hear her she just got back to work. This is not the type of experience I receive at my normal hobby lobby and will def not go back to this location seeing that there are two others much...

If you're a Christmas fan - oh man, this could be you Heaven, you can prepare for Christmas all year long! They have a wild selection in just about any category that they offer and every week, they have certain categories that will be anywhere from 30-75% off! I usually shoot for the 50%. If there is anything you need, just keep an eye out on their weekly deals, because they are bound to go on sale - if you have the time to wait, just wait it out. Worst case scenario, if you only need one item, google "Hobby Lobby coupon" on your phone and you can get 40% off and single regular priced item! I love this place! :)
The only thing I'm not super thrilled about that I can imagine might get tough for the staff here is the antiquated register systems. But they still do quite well and you can be in and out of there in reasonable time...my only warning is to stay focused because you might walk out with twenty extra things you didn't originally come for ;) Oh, and they are closed on Sundays. Great for the staff and family - bummer for those of us who get craft-shopping cravings on...
