I've been a Costco customer for over 3 years now, and I feel I have been visiting this location enough (twice a month since purchasing a membership) to leave a review:
This Costco is the east-most location available to Houstonians, and is the only option available to those in Houston unless they wish to travel more westward. I have to travel 30min-45min when I choose to shop here, which I do, because the prices are simply fantastic. That's one of the many things we know Costco is known for thanks to bulk purchasing.
That's about all the positives I have to say about this location, because all else does little to respect your time.
The parking lot somehow, (perhaps through a curse beyond managements ability?) always full. It doesn't matter if you go on a Monday morning, it doesn't matter if you go Sunday morning, the parking lot will always be full somehow. This place has been a location since 2018, and there seems to be know plans to improve or increase the size of the parking lot. Most available places are near the tire and auto space of the store, where you can expect to walk at least 5min in the Texas heat even in winter.
The ability to traverse the store is nice if you are on the side of entry, however, if you are checking out, good luck. I have never once shopped here and seen the line for self-checkout not reaching at least half way to the frozen section. Usually it does it get to the frozen section, which is at the back of the store. Imagine that for a moment: A store that is 158k square feet, ALWAYS has a line reaching to the back of it. Outrageous, inefficient, unacceptable. There would be only a net gain if there was a removal of the self-checkout lanes.
One of the other biggest draws of Costco is the food court. The one here serves great food, but if you want a pizza they will not respect your time. At all. I've done everything to try to get a pizza or two ready on time by the time I'm done with my shopping experience. Remember, I travel nearly an hour at times to get here. I prefer to get a pizza as warm as possible while I shop here so that it's still warm when I get home for my family, the price for it is great! It doesn't matter if I order it at the beginning of my shopping experience, in the middle, near the end, you will always wait AT MINIMUM 20min for a pizza. And it's crazy embarrassing too, I don't know what the kitchen at this Costco has to do to get another oven but they desperately need one. It is incredibly common for me to be in line with at lest 7-10 other people also waiting for their own orders.
I would have just put in a complaint there, but when I asked the guy at the exit who I should talk to about bringing attention to it, he just laughed at me and said I should have ordered ahead of time. I mean, if Pizza Hut or Dominoes was as affordable sure, but my wife and I were surprised to hear that kind of response from an employee there.
Anyway, Sams is opening up a location a bit more East of Houston so that may be more convenient to go to if this one doesn't improve by the time it's...
Read moreWhen I arrived at the check out counter there were two costco members there to check me out, and she asked me to put my groceries on the check out line, as I was doing it she then said, I can do it, and as I let her proceed I told her I could help it wasn't an issue but she insisted so I stopped at went to the cashier and then I saw both her and the cashier scanning all my products and double checking. I checked out.
As I am walking up to the exit there were people in front of me but the line was flowing pretty quickly and I handed my receipt, the line checker was very thorough and noticed that my receipt had fewer items than she counted to my surprise and after she counted twice - this is where Costco members failed me as the customer. Now a line is gathering behind me - if you noticed that there is a problem you should first take the time to acknowledge me as your customer and empathetically say something like " Mr/Mrs Personality I am so sorry for this inconvenience, please step over here I've called a manager who will be happy to create a solution for this problem." But that's not what happened - (Janet very robotically kept telling me the count is 23 insinuating I was involved, which was very rude and improper when it was clearly a mistake made at the checkout register. I didn't go through self check out. After a supervisor arrived, she mistakenly counted 22 items and then they start going back and forth over is it 22 or 23 causing a scene as I am watching bewildered at this mess another person's cart gets dinged and they get told to step aside. We both were dismayed. And like she and I Janet wasn't customer friendly AT ALL.
As I'm leaving again, here comes Janet with another recount and I let her do it. I told her I'm not frustrated with her, but with the situation and to my surprise she starts arguing with me with passive aggressive attitude saying I quote, "you're mad at me" I told her for the 2nd time I'm not, and she cuts me off and tells me rudely to "have a nice day" several times in a hasty and disgruntled way. Following this event - it's likely I will order in bulk from Amazon, where I can avoid the drama that comes with store visits, negative and bad customer service and lack of consideration.
Costco if this is your version of customer appreciation, I don't want it. I filed a complaint with corporate as well. I hope other customers will be treated better than...
Read moreOmg! This wholesale store is a lot better than Sam's Club in a lot of ways. I had the opportunity to be gifted a Costco card during the Christmas hour. I visited the store on Sunday to solidify my membership and had the pleasure of speaking with customer service personnel, Sophia. Initially, Ms. Sophia attempted to upsell me a deal with a credit card. I wasn't interested in getting another CC, so she was cool with my decision.
I ended up getting an exclusive card to add to my basic account which Ms. Sophia assisted me with. She was so patient and answered all of my questions. I even was allowed to add my sister who gifted me the original card. The card machine was down at the moment, but Ms. Sophia went above and beyond by showing me how to access the app to view how my points would be calculated.
I always knew Costco was better than Sam's Club in some ways, but I did not realize how much their products aligned with my lifestyle. The produce was significantly better looking and the deals appeared to be much more affordable. They have more vegan-friendly foods such as a pack of organic tofu, several big bags of frozen vegetables, bulk soy, oat, and almond milks, hummus, Beyond patties, and the icing on the cake is their wide selection of Asian snacks such as mochi (not just the frozen kind), my favorite: want-want rice crackers, kimchi, taro balls, and boba gelatin-free fruit cups. I mean, the variety was expansive. Even some of the processed noodles, vegetable-fried spring rolls, I spotted some kombucha too. I really love the vast cultural options that they had.
I just wasn't expecting that. It is a beautiful thing. I didn't get the deal with no Mastercard so I can't credit my purchases, but hopefully, they can change that soon. I visited on a Sunday and it was barely packed with people.
The store is clean and they actively have staff sweeping. The staff members seem to be satisfied with their jobs. Now, the apparel department was out of order, but that is to be expected. The ladies restroom was very clean and had lots of stalls that were packed with toilet paper. This is a...
