I was searching for a great deal on furniture and was recommended by coworkers to Mike's furniture. You get what you pay for is definitely true in this case! I found a dresser and nighstand and paid them $315.00 up front and put $30.00 toward a couch that I had put on layaway. I provided my address and phone number and was told that my dresser and nightstand would arrive the following Tuesday. I called that morning at 8am to confirm my delivery and correct phone number. I live in a highrise so also confirmed the key pad entry number. By 3pm it had not come. I called Mike's and was told that they had delivered it at 9am and noone was home. I explained that I was there and they repeated my phone number back to me. It was the wrong number. And they also cleaimed not to have my key pad number. I explained I had called that morning. By the end of the conversation I was told I was not home, if I had been then I would have received my furniture. They also said that if it was true I had called in the morning then a note would have been put in my file. Since there was not a note, I had not called! I explained that this was not acceptable service. They said if I did not like it then to come in for a refund. It was my mistake to draw this out. I decided to give it another chance. Because I am a full time student and work full time I really did not have time to go and find furniture somewhere else. The second time was the same exact situation. I called that morning. Confirmed delivery and phone number. They never showed up. I called. I got nowhere with them other than completely upset. Today I went in for a refund. Guess what? Mike's does NOT do cash refunds, even if you have never received the product! I was told that THEY had wasted gas to deliver twice to me and I was not home. Not only will they not refund the cost of the furniture I had bought, they will not refund the $40 dollars I paid for delivery, nor will they refund the $30 I put toward a couch. Nothing! They also called me a liar to my face in front of a dozen customers waiting for service. And told me they would see me in small claims court. I never raised my voice to them, I was consistently polite in all of my dealings, and this is the treatment I received. I also asked to speak to the manager, and whoever this person is refused to come and talk to me. It is obvious that they do not stand behind their products or service. It has been over a month, I am out of approximately $350.00, and I still do not have the...
Read moreI always heard people talking about Mike's furniture here and there. After I got my first apartment I decided to buy something from them, mainly appliances. I bought a used mini-fridge and microwave for a good deal. To my dismay the microwave didn't come with a plate so I had to spend an extra $30 on one, which made my "good deal" less appealing.
The guy "advised" me (basically refused) not to have the fridge delivered, but to just have one of my friends drive over and pick it up since I would be paying $40 to deliver somewhere relatively close (not really...). I went with his words and ended up picking up the fridge about a week later.
Within the first 3 months the motor on the fridge stopped working 4-5 times. Sometimes it would take literally days for it to come back on. I became completely scared to unplug it since it would take FOREVER to come back on once I plugged it back in. I called Mike's and they offered to have someone come check it out since when I called I had it less than 30 days. I agreed, but canceled the service call when the fridge miraculously came back on the next day.
The knob to change the temperature broke within the first month as well. They offered to exchange it. After awhile the freezer almost completely stopped freezing anything. I defrosted and took out all my food to see that the line that carries whatever makes the freezer cold had somehow burned a hole into itself so that everything leaked out before getting into the freezer and just laid there in the bottom portion of my fridge.
These aren't deals that Mike's Furniture has while the service wasn't as bad for me as others, the quality of the things they provide is horrendous. The fridge I bought seemed like it was on its' last legs. I fixed the freezer myself by just moving the line with the hole and putting it completely in the freezer. Now its back to normal and has been running for a couple months without the motor blowing too.
Edit: As of December 2013, the microwave I bought from here has almost completely died. It only heats with no exhaust fan, lights, or turntable spinning so when I open the door a lot of steam/smoke comes out because there's nothing drawing the steam/smoke away. Don't buy from this place unless you've got...
Read moreTwo years ago, I bought an electric sofa and loveseat from Mike Furniture. The staff recommended purchasing a warranty because of the electrical components. Recently, the loveseat lost power and I called to file a claim. However, I was informed that the warranty company was no longer in use, and was given a customer service number printed on the warranty pamphlet. I contacted the new warranty company and was informed that I had purchased the wrong policy, which did not cover the electrical components. After contacting Mike Furniture, they sent a technician to assess the situation. The technician suggested that the loveseat needed to be replaced, but the warranty company claimed that the wiring had been tampered with and refused to cover the repair. I explained that only one wire was disconnected and that everything else was zip-tied and had not been tampered with. The manager agreed that the warranty company was at fault and offered me a $150 refund on the warranty, but did not offer to replace the sofa. I was sold the wrong warranty and was lied to about the insurance company's reasons for not covering the sofa, even though the warranty company had already informed me that my policy did not cover electrical components. I contacted the warranty company again to confirm whether I had a prior claim, whether it was open or closed, but they said I didn't. The manager of Mike Furniture sold me the wrong policy and then falsely blamed the insurance company. Now I'm stuck with half of a set that doesn't work and they only offered a $150 refund for a set that cost around $1500. As a fellow business owner, I strongly believe that this is not how you should treat your customers. I plan to post this review on every platform to warn other potential buyers....
