Just a review completely based on value, as I would hate for someone to make the same mistake. For the fourth of July week, we were vacationing to see Glacier. We were 2 families with 5 kids ages 7 to 14, so there were nine of us all together. Having never been to Whitefish before, we were looking for a tour to help us get to know the area. I booked the "Taste of Whitefish" tour, which was a 2 hour bike tour. I remembered it being a bit expensive, but I didn't think too much of it and because of the great reviews, I assumed it would be worth it.
Because we had kids with us, we were given regular bikes, not e-bikes, which is understandable. We had 2 tour guides that were young, likely in college or under 25. We simply road the bikes for 2 hours, stopping once because one of the kids had a gear issue and was struggling. Turns out the guide instructed her how to use the gears incorrectly, stating that he had only ever given this tour using e-bikes. We road the bikes through some pretty neighborhoods, stopped at a dog park for a bathroom break, stopped at the beach for a few minutes to rest, and then finished at an ice cream shop. The ride was fine, but we didn't learn any information about Whitefish. It was simply a bike ride through town. The guides were nice kids. We asked them about themselves and tried to learn about what brought them to Whitefish. The fact that this was marketed as an excursion is really misleading. The only "tour" was them leading us through the town on the bikes.
This cost of this was $1450.00.
I had paid a month in advance, so didn't realize it until later that day when I sheepishly told the other adults about the price. That comes out to $161 per person. for the 2 hr bike ride, on regular bikes. No discount for not using e-bikes.
For Reference, the very next day, we did a half day white water rafting tour, which had a private steak dinner riverside, with Wild River Rafting (Highly Recommend!). Our total bill was $1285.00. LESS than the 2 hour bike ride, it included rafting, dinner, and it was twice as long of an excursion.
The two dads on the trip couldn't believe this bike trip cost was correct so they called up after the fact to simply inquire and give them a chance to explain. While it was a fine conversation, no adjustment was made on the price. It was just that expensive.
Long story short -- The Taste of Whitefish Tour was probably worth $30 per person for the nice bike ride through town. Not $160 per person that they charged.
Things that cost LESS than this 2-hour bike ride:
Our Ford Bronco rental for the week Our half day white water rafting tour with a riverside steak dinner for 9 people A full day of activities on Whitefish Mountain (Zip line, slides, etc) for 9 people A Boat Tour around Lake McDonald & Lunch...

What a treat this was. Our guide Dani picked us up on time from our hotel. We received excellent instructions on the eBike's operation before the tour. Because we didn't pack our backpacks for the tour well, she was even gracious enough to carry our sandwiches. So grateful she did because after the bike ride up, it was wonderful to enjoy those delectable sandwiches at the Three Arches while everyone took in the breathtaking scenery.
The ride from Avalanche park&ride all the way to Three Arches and back was just breathtaking. What a joy it was to see the valleys, roaring rivers and creeks, gushing waterfalls and majestic mountain peaks. Really thankful to our guide and whitefish outfitters for this amazing experience.
Tour : Flat Head Lake / Bison Range Tour: (Winter) Date: 03/22/25 Guide : Larry
This was such an extra ordinary experience which was made more exceptional by our remarkable guide Larry. The views of the Lake and the Mountain ranges by it and on the way were just marvelous.
Larry is such a knowledgeable individual who made sure to share as much as he could about the terrain, history of the land and the wildlife that thrives in Montana. He was also patient and put so much extra effort to make sure we got to see as many wildlife as possible.
The Bison range is such a wonderful place, we were able to see a wide range of wild life such as the mighty Bison roaming free, White tailed Deers enjoying their stroll, Bull elk hiding so well, but gave away his location just by the sheer size of his antlers...which only Larry could see!!!. Then there were the beautiful Magpies, Red winged Blackbirds singing and flying around. Also Red tailed Hawks soaring above and making sure all is ok.. Then we have the Swans, Herons and the Geese just doing their thing...
Thank You Larry and Whitefish Outfitters for providing this tour and helping us create a wonderful memory of Montana Tour: West Glacier Scenic driving Tour:(Winter) Date: 03/21/25 Guide : Mark
A wonderful experience topped off with an Outstanding guide Mark. The views of the Lake/s and the Snow capped Mountains were just breathtaking. Our guide was so jovial and at the same time very professional explaining to us all the terrain we were seeing and passing through.
Thank you Mark and Whitefish Outfitters for helping us create fantastic winter...
Read moreThe Going to the Sun Photography Tour was absolutely worth it. My wife and I had a wonderful experience with our guide William who was incredibly knowledgeable about all things Glacier. This was our first time at GNP so we wanted to make sure we saw everything we could and not have to worry about driving Going to the Sun road. William's pleasant and friendly demeanor put us at ease and made for an enjoyable experience. When the rain came down during our trip and hindered some views of the continental divide, William made sure we were able to visit a few extra pull-off points and knew some great and unique spots to visit within the park to still get great views. I'm glad we made the decision to go with Whitefish Outfitters. They and William made for an unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend for a tour of any kind and I know we'll be using their services again next time we are back in Montana.
On another note, we stopped by the Whitefish Outfitters store to rent some bear mace from David, who was also incredibly friendly...
