I have never given a negative review to a small business, as I am a small business owner myself and know how important an online presence is to today's consumer. My experience was exceptionally bad at this establishment. Whenever this happens, I always give others the benefit of the doubt and assume they are having a bad day and may be going through something personally. However, after reading others' reviews spanning multiple years, I see that this was not a one-time occurrence. I came in on a slow, drizzly weekday with my 1 year old daughter and was treated like an absolute nuisance for bringing in my child. I got several dirty looks from the owner, although, my daughter was on her best behavior, as she was asleep in her stroller the entire time. I can only conclude that it was the stroller she didn't like??? I was the only customer in the store so I can't imagine why this was such a big deal. I asked several questions about her chocolates and was met with a general sense of disdain for my presence in her store. What an absolutely bizarre encounter with a business owner. I live locally and like to keep my dollars in Whitefish, but I've heard the message loud and clear - I will...
Read moreI can’t say anything about the chocolate because we didn’t end up purchasing anything, due to the inhospitable environment from the owner. We’re from Utah, and I can’t say I’ve ever experienced more blatant racism than I did in this shop. The white haired woman who owns the shop has a perma scowl, and will make sure that if you’re not white you know you’re unwelcome. Love all her responses to negative reviews, talking about spreading love when in reality she’s the farthest from that. Other shop employees in the area had a lot to say about her racism as well. Save your money and walk just around the corner to Bookworks, it’s a darling little store with a much bigger, better and more organized selection of books, with extremely friendly employees and a million...
Read moreService animals were clearly not welcome, as the woman behind the counter came and asked me what disability I had (which is illegal for businesses to ask service dog handlers), told me that I wasn't allowed in part of the store because I had my dog with me and there was food there, I was told that I couldn't go too close to the other customers in the store because there were children, and I was scoffed at when I explained that I needed my dog or I may risk losing conciousness and hurting myself by falling. I tried explaining the ADA laws and was scoffed at again. If you have a disability that requires a service dog, just know you're going to be treated badly in this...
