West Marine — Local services in Wilmington

I am bringing my new to me boat south from Long Island, New York to Florida. I had to detour into Wilmington, North Carolina to deal with a bilge pump issue. After tying up at Port City Marina, I called West Marine, Anne answered and told me they had the part that I needed, but they closed in 15 minutes. Anne waited for me to get get things settled and get an Uber to West Marine. She waited for me past closing hours. I got exactly what I needed, and Anne was very knowledgeable and helpful.

As an owner of a Marine services business, and boat owner, this was exemplary customer service. I will never forget this. Other West Marine stores need to take a lesson from this lady, she provided 110% professionalism in all regards. I am so appreciative of her willingness to help.

I placed an order online for two 1 gal jars of barnacle buster. The stock showed 5 in stock. Tuesday late afternoon, I received an email saying my order was ready to pick up. 2 gals. When I arrived on Wednesday (a day later) to pick up my 2 gals, now only one was available. I drove 35 miles with no notification of the "change" in availability. Why was the order complete and ready, and then it wasn't. With no notification. Sounds like someone gave my bottle to someone else. Yes, I lost my temper, and for that, I am sorry. But what poor service. Plus Iost $10.00 because I was using an Amex special. Really, if a mistake was made hone up to it, I would have been better with that... then the "reasons" given.

I love West Marine and I never thought they could get any better. How could they? West Marine Wilmington has the best employees and customer service for boating. What more could you ask for.... Apparently, boatside service for West Marine Pro clients. Yep, you heard it here first. When we are in the field, even in Carolina Beach, this amazing women will bring us the parts needed to continue working. Not only is that an awesome perk for us but to our customers! We won't have to leave a marina to get a boat part. Cuts down on a lot of wasted time. Woot woot!
