UPDATE - The owner has reached out to us, and while we still haven't received a full refund, he seems to be a nice person and listened to all of my feedback.
Original Review Below:
Drift Coffee & Kitchen stole money from us.
After placing an online order that totaled $30 and some change (including tip), our car broke down on the way to pick up the order (radiator cracked and the car overheated).
We were early as we placed the order with a pickup time of 30 minutes (instead of the default 5) and we left our house immediately.
Shortly after leaving our house, the car broke down. While waiting for a tow, we decided to call Drift and give them a heads up, so they could cancel the order and not have to make it.
Someone from Drift picked up immediately and after we told them we would be unable to pick up our order (and gave them our reason why), we were told the order was already made. Literally, there response to us saying our car broke down was ”Well, we already made the order, so....are you close enough for us to deliver it to you?”.
We were near downtown and the last thing we needed was someone to drive up with a warm acai bowl.
After pondering how to best handle this $30 transaction, someone at Drift thought the ethical and correct way to handle this was to send us an e-mail explaining they already made our food (way too early) and because of this, they could only refund 50% of the transaction and the money could take up to a week to make it back to our account.
So instead of simply refunding the customer $30, Drift has taken a short-sighted business decision and as a result, has lost a couple of customers for life. They've also driven me to write this review, which will be published on social platforms, and anywhere else I can...
Read moreWe went in around 11:30 am on Sunday, and this was the first time we've ever been in a Drift Coffee shop. I don't think we will be back. The girl at the register was very rude until I said it was our first time there (no one was in the shop at that point but even if it were busy you should be polite to your customers). The drinks were pretty standard (chai latte and a sunrise smoothie) and were good. Unfortunately, they clearly forgot our two to-go orders of banana toast completely and after remembering them and being in a hurry, they called out the wrong name and another customer put his hands into the box before realizing it wasn't his order and putting it back again. We asked them to remake the affected toast, and they were respectable about it (no apologies though). Once we eventually received the second order, both were hard as rocks and EXTREMELY bland. We threw them both away, and we gave up and went to a nearby brunch establishment to salvage our day. They only get the extra star for the decent drinks. The seating was also completely disgusting (fabric bench seating inside was absolutely stained with everything you could think of). There's a Starbucks across the street, and there are at least 8 other LOCAL brunch / breakfast / coffee places within half a mile, so I'd recommend visiting...
Read moreDo Yourself a Favor and Go to Starbucks! Was with my family and stopped in. The ordering went ok. Then lots of customers waiting around for their coffee. My food order came up and what I thought was my coffee too. No names said, nothing written on cups. Took the two coffees, went outside to my table to talk with the fam. A minute later a staff member comes out and accuses me of “taking a coffee that was not yours”. Oops, my mistake. But did he have to be so accusatory and rude? Anywho, long story short, skip any Drift coffee and find yourself a friendly Starbucks! To the owners of Drift: please retrain your staff to be courteous and have manners. Please do not accuse customers of “wrong coffee taking??” And they could write names on cups and hurry up the service. Perhaps a name system on a screen? Accidents Happen in 2024. Treat humans...
