Review over GULLEY CREEK RANCH HOUSE: Will never stay at a place like this again; the first thing that should of turned us away was that there were no pictures of the bathroom. We requested pictures but never received any from either the property owner or the company that handles the reservations. When we first got there we got a hand written note that was written with a fading marker saying she would come by later to meet us which she did. She did try to look in to see who all was with me and only saw me and my chihuahua. There was also a note written on the toilet saying it is septic and no to flush feminine products down the drain. We decided that since it was still hot outside and was about 5 pm, that we wanted to go to pool, and we stayed there till around 7-8pm. She came back to the pool to ask us if we saw the rules to her septic system but also she came to see our dogs and how many people were there because as soon as she saw she left and didn’t stay to talk. We had purchased flood lights due to many properties not having outdoor lights but ended up using it inside the kitchen to cook since the light is nowhere near the middle of the kitchen and there is hardly any light. When we turned it on, all we saw were cobwebs everywhere from microwave to wine glasses and dust all over the knick knacks she had. The fridge and freezer were both dirty and had hair inside and there was a spider living in the sink. The furniture was outdated and worn, the dining room table is bent on both ends, the single leather couch in the room in so worn down that it feels like you are sitting on the floor, the other fabric couch is used to cover a stain on the carpet, and the leather couch in the living room is covered with a blanket to hide the rips and tears. The only tv is old, in the living room, and shakes when watching it; for the amount of money spent you would think that Joy would invest some of that money back into it. We ended up using our own foil and plastic ware to cook because we didn’t trust any of the utensils and dishes that were provided.
ALSO she lives right by the ranch house, like there is a small shed between the ranch house and her house. We were swimming one night at 8-9 pm, and we noticed a tv light coming from the building and saw a ceiling fan, and then all of a sudden a kitchen light came on and we see Joy walking by with her window wide open. Sadly you can’t see if she is watching you in the dark and it is really creepy. Would never saw this is a private pool when the owner can see you at anytime of the day.
Will sned pics if requested, unable to upload to Google...
Read moreWe stayed at the driftwood ranch and ran into snags from the start. Terrie, the manager of the property, was very thorough and attentive until we got there. If you look at this listing on VRBO, it is FALSELY advertised. We got to the place, warmed up the pictured hot tub the listing mentions and says is included in our rental, but shortly after we got there, a pool boy came and turned off the hot tub literally while we were in it! Unprofessional to say the absolute least.
When I mentioned this, terries response was the the owner didn’t like using the hot tub until it warmed up, but we rented this place after spring break from March 21-24, paid over $3K when all was said and done and we can’t use the hot tub pictured in your listing? We had two pregnant ladies there who were longing to sit in a warm bath-like hot tub but instead were forced into a smaller stand-alone hot tub that was full of chlorine and made you itch. The real tub was salt water and so much nicer!
She had the pool boy lock the remote so we could not use the tub that was literally the focal point of several of the pictures on this listing. The stand alone tub is not even mentioned or pictured!! How misleading is that?
Not to mention the game room mentioned in the listing had a malfunctioning lock. I let Terrie know about this upon arrival, was told it would be fixed around 4 that day and it was not fixed until 11 Am the next morning, leaving the 3 beds in there not usable and leaving our guests on couches and air mattresses the first night. Oh, not to mention that I told this to them and didn’t hear back for over 18 hours. Poorest professional communication I have experienced in some time.
Thank the Lord above the property was nice because that was the only positive take away from this experience. Steer clear of all Wimberly lodging and any affiliate property. You will be more than likely heavily disappointed as we were. If this property was falsely advertised and misleading, along with the way in which things were handled on the most unprofessional level I’ve experienced, it leads me to believe this is their standard practice, hence the average reviews. We won’t be back and will never rent an all wimberly Lodging...
Read moreWe stayed at the Star Meadow cabin. This place was fantastic! It looks exactly like the photos, but the feel of it is so calming and romantic (and I don't use that word lightly because it's corny). We spend our entire time with the windows open breathing the fresh air and feeling the amazing breeze. You could see for mile. From the bed! It was glorious. We (my husband and I) are pretty wound up because we both have high stress jobs. By the morning of the second day, it was all gone. I was so relaxed!
The kitchen has everything you need (including a whole lot of spices and coffees). There were tons of towels, toilet paper, and blankets. The TV was huge, but it didn't have cable. Luckily, you got a lot of channels from both San Marcos and Austin, so you didn't miss out. Plus there were movies, books, and CDs. The fireplace was wonderful. The beautifully set table was so nice to sit at while we ate. That's a plus since if we are able to eat together, it's usually in front of the TV.
I am giving the shower it's own paragraph. It's a huge, double-headed shower. I highly recommend you get in there with someone! We took a lot of showers while we were there just because it was so nice! Rent this for the shower!
The driveway was a steep. And, I mean steep! If you have a small car, floor it at the get-go! You'll make it. Going down was fun, though.
All in all, it was a fabulous stay. We've stayed at a number of places in Wimberley. This is the first one we are ready to go back to right this minute!
Thanks, Star Meadow, for letting us live there for a few days! It...
