So I was walking down the avenue and I saw a gorgeous diamond bracelet in the window, when I pressed the door bell to enter I waited in the heat for 3 minutes give or take waiting for the door to be unlocked so I could enter the store. Someone then asked through the intercom “how may I help you” I told the lady I was wanting to look at the bracelet in the window, she then said “well what are you looking for something particular or just looking? “ I said to myself I could of sworn I said I was wanting to look at the bracelet in the window, she then told me “oh we are appointment based only” I felt like she had dismissed me so rudely might I add. She didn’t even try to tell me how to make an appointment she just said what she said and left it at that. I was not only puzzled because she could have just told me that from the beginning but I thought to myself I feel like I’m being racially profiled and sure enough I was right…. KEEP IN MIND THERE IS NO SIGN ON OR NEAR THE DOOR THAT SAYS APPOINTMENT ENETRY ONLY! As I walked away a little upset and still puzzled by the woman’s snappy remark I looked back and saw 3 white women looking at the jewelry cases just pointing and looking away and one of the women buzzed the doorbell and the same woman came on the intercom again and told them to just “come right on in the door is open” and they all just walked right in….. I now knew this was not a misunderstanding this was out right racism at its finest. I don’t know if it was because of my appearance in a regular t-shirt and basketball shorts but I do know it was because my skin tone… I was and still am appalled this store is a disgrace and needs better employees it’s 2023 and this is what’s still going on???!!! We came into the Winter Park store one night, feeling pretty timid and discouraged after months of research and a really negative experience with a well known diamond retailer. Stacy happened to be in that evening and she and Doreen very kindly asked questions, listened to concerns and hesitations after our previous experience and really took the time to give us the story of Bay Hill, where their diamonds come from and assured us we would be taken care. They absolutely did everything they said. They had diamonds flown in from NYC, helped us pick everything out so patiently and really gave us a wonderful customer experience. Throughout the process, Doreen was respectful, kind and enthusiastic to help us and make sure that we were truly happy. She was also excellent with communication and followed up frequently. With a purchase as big as an engagement ring and wedding bands, you want to make it with confidence! You also want to look back at that experience and remember it fondly; you want to have good feelings about the entire process from start to finish and we absolutely do.    Read moreI picked out my engagement ring here which my fiancé later proposed with. I LOVE the ring, but had trouble finding the right size. The back of the ring band has delicate little scallops and after having it resized multiple times the scalloping had been flattened, misshaped, and distorted. I was devastated. The manager, Stacy, did everything she could to help me and ultimately we had to send the ring to their manufacturer to have the back of the band remade. I got it back yesterday and it is absolutely perfect! It looks like nothing had ever happened to it. I cannot thank Stacy and the whole team enough for working with the manufacturer and helping me find a solution.
