Absolutely Unacceptable Customer Service – Will Not Be Returning. As someone who works for the Big 3, specifically at JNAP, we all know how critical being on time is. That’s why I called ahead to place a lunch order for myself and two coworkers — three sandwiches total. I repeated the order three times over the phone to ensure it was correct. When I arrived to pick it up, I repeated the order again to Kim and Mary before paying, and they both confirmed it was accurate.
Given the fact that I was ordering for coworkers — not family — and I was pressed for time, I didn’t open each sandwich to double-check. I trusted that the order had been taken correctly, especially after going over it four separate times.
Fast forward to our break — two out of the three sandwiches were wrong. I immediately called the restaurant, and instead of receiving an apology or even a hint of accountability, I was met with the rudest and most unprofessional attitude I’ve experienced in a long time. Kim, who took the original order, blamed me, saying I asked for “three of the same sandwich” — something she called a “#17½” — which is laughable because I don’t even have a menu and wouldn’t know to order that in the first place.
Rather than admitting a mistake or trying to make it right, Kim doubled down and deflected all responsibility. A simple “I’m sorry, how can we fix this?” could’ve gone a long way. I would’ve gladly returned the incorrect sandwiches or had someone drop them off. But no — just pride, denial, and a complete lack of customer care.
To make matters worse, one coworker said his sandwich with coleslaw was inedible and that the slaw tasted old, while another joked that he would’ve been better off eating at a gas station. For a bill totaling over $70, this experience was completely unacceptable.
Because of Kim’s poor attitude and lack of accountability, The Bread Basket has now lost the business of our entire 20-person team at JNAP. We’ll also be sharing this experience on the JNAP/MACK & WTAP pages to warn others.
Good luck to anyone expecting decent service — we certainly...
Read more12/14/22 (5 Stars for Corn Beef; 0 Stars for cakes) I went back to Bread Basket on 12/14/22 the corn beef was delicious as always. However, the German Chocolate and the Coconut Cakes were very, very dry. The German Chocolate cake taste like a regular double chocolate cake with just a little German Chocolate frosting on top. The Coconut Cake dry and had no taste to it. I WILL NEVER BUY THEM AGAIN. I call back to let them know; there was no resolution. I didn't eat the cakes!! 07/2022 I had Bread Basket on Jefferson to prepare brunch for my relatives coming in from out of town. My order included several pounds of corn beef, turkey, onion rolls, cole slaw, russian dressing, ice tea and a whole chocolate layer cake with yellow batter. (IT WAS DELICIOUS). EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS. The Chef took the time with me to tell me how to warm up my corn beef to keep it juicy; he also sliced my onion rolls. He was very polite and showed me that he was interested in making sure everything would turn out great for my family. Because of his kindness and knowledge my family stated that was the BEST corn beef they had ever had and to compliment the Catering Department. So thank you Izen for an OUTSTANDING job well done. I WILL BE COMING BACK AGAIN!! 5+ STARS to you!! Oh, by the way; everything was prepared on time. DELICIOUS...
Read moreI have to say that Ronnie mitnick the original owner of the bread basket deli would literally crap his pants if he just tasted the quality of a corned beef sandwich that I just had here today on the 19th of December 2024 in downtown Detroit the bread was not even first rate it was stale it was hard a good rye bread should melt in your mouth with a crusty taste on the ends of the bread. The corned beef was so dry I had to refill my water three times they served it to me lean which I did not ask for corned beef should have fat in it this place should be absolutely disgusted with themselves on the quality that they put out for a corned beef sandwich that cost me $20. I am so disappointed and I promise you I will never visit again. Go to stage deli in West Bloomfield they never disappoint and yes it's expensive but wouldn't you rather have a filet mignon in your mouth then nasty deli lunch meat from a Kroger that's exactly what they served today It was absolutely disgraceful. Ronnie mitnick the original owner would shut this place down and redo everything before he would dare have the name of breadbasket with one of these sandwiches coming out of here. Shame on you...
