Amore Mexican Tapas & Bar
Mexican heaven in the heart of Phuket town ✨
🇲🇽Nachos (190 THB) - hot fresh nachos served with 3 dips - Guacamole, tomato salsa & cream. Very fresh, taste great.
🫓Beef Quesadillas (200-250 THB) - hot fried generously filled with beef, cheese, corn, beans & tomato (?). Served with tomato salsa & cream. Taste is amazing. This was my favorite dish.
🫔Chicken enchiladas (Around 200 THB) - filled with chicken, loaded with tomato sauce and cheese on top. The inside felt dry and a bit empty, could have more cheese on top as well. Overall taste is great, but feels a bit overpriced for the price. Wasn’t much happy with this dish.
Value for price - most of their dishes taste great! Some dishes feels a bit overpriced for what served, but overall pretty fair for what they served. Expect to pay between 200-350 per dish.
Atmosphere - Spanish music in the background adding a lot to the vibe. The place decorated ‘Mexican’ as well, a lot of small details. We were the only table at this time.
Service - amazing service, way above the average resturant in Thailand. Can see that the owner really care about the costumers happiness. Staff speaks ok English. We were asking for spicy sauce and they offered us few options (which wasn’t spicy😅). They also spoiled us with dessert on the house, which was very delicious.
Parking - bike & car parking in front and on the street - although depend on the day & time it might be a bit challenge to find parking.
Downsides: They don’t have spicy sauce, for Mexican style spicy lovers Charge 3% when you pay with credit card
Overall it’s a great place for Mexican food, which we are always happy to come back. Highly recommend to share food with...
Read moreExtremely racist place - as a people of color who are well traveled we have never faced this issue. This is a place which will not serve you because of your ethnicity.
We were here on a Saturday night and asked for a table - they told us they can't take our order as the chef is busy for 20 minutes and we can leave - without asking if we are okay with waiting to place the order. A Caucasian person came after us and they let her in without questions.
We waited outside for 5 minutes for them to come back to us and check if we can sit as well - but all the waiters looked and ignored us. When we went inside - the main manager and waiters refused to talk to us and were forcing us to leave the restaurant.
If you are a person of color, AVOID!!!!
Adding an edit to clarify the restaurant: We were not told that the restaurant is full and we could not be seated - we would have accepted that. We were told that we have a table for 5, but we are not serving anyone or taking any orders for 20 minutes so please wait outside. As we were turning to leave, they welcomed some Caucasian customers with open arms - no kitchen is full or nothing. So clearly we weren't even worth a conversation.
Again - we understand that we didn't have a reservation but that was not the reason we turned away. The only reason we came inside the restaurant to talk is because your entire staff looked at us and ignored us for a good 8-10 minutes. Please get your facts right before you try and defend your actions. Absolutely terrible restaurant - will defend their racism...
Read moreHad a really nice nice dinner here with a group of 5 last Sunday - professional and hospitable service. Tried appetizers, shrimp and beef tacos (both very very tasty) and the restaurant treated us to panna cotta desert which was gone in a second so fully approved! Ingredients used (like the beef in the tacos) was good quality and well prepared; juicy and tasty. Other dishes were also tasty and well prepared.
Margaritas were excellent and plenty of good wine to choose from - most reasonable priced Amarone Valpolicella I've spotted thus far in Thailand, and it was good too ;-)
Altogether I can really recommend this restaurant if you're in the area - it is not too large so I guess if you're a group of 4+ you may want to give them a call to make reservations. That's what my wife did and all turned out great. Prices are reasonable as well - bill starts going up when you order wine but that's all around Thailand so all the nicer when a place has sorted some good wine at a -for Thailand- good price.
Edit: Almost forgot - we had seafood soup (may have been a different name) as well and it was full of taste. Asked for some additional bread to scoop up the remains which came right away, so, yes, just more good...
