Banjo's Bakery Cafe
Meatball Pie - $8.95
So after seeing Baking Business share Banjo's Bakery Cafe newest pie I thought I should go down and try one.
The presentation of the pie looked fantastic and the size looked pretty good. The lid looked like half cheese and the other half pastry with the 3 meatballs on top. The sides were cooked well, but the base needed more time in the oven. Is this the case when overloading the pie the base doesn't cook all the way through ? I don't know.
Biting into the pie I was expecting say a bolognaise sort of mince and sauce. I saw noodles and thought "noodlegate" straight away. The pie wasn't too bad taste wise, slightly bland in my opinion, needed more tomato/bolognaise flavour in my opinion. The pie was packed full of noodles, a little bit of mince throughout the sauce. Look, I wasn't overall convinced with the price vs the product, probably slightly cheaper, $8.95 is getting up there. Here's the million dollar question, does spaghetti belong in a pie? If you're baking at home sure, personally I would sell spaghetti in a pie. Others may think differently. Serving temp was good and the pie held up together. I'd say it's a middle of the road pie. Needs more flavour in the filling
Plenty of indoor and outdoor dining areas, well laid out store. I'll be back one day to try the scallop pie.

Read moreIf I owned this business and one of my employees treated customers the way I was treated this morning (Saturday 26 June at approximately 7.30 am) by the COVID Marshall Felix it would be an instant dismissal. I was seen but not acknowledged for a while and greeted with are you right there in a derogatory manner. Followed by an eye roll and telling me to go wait and my order is going to be taken I got the impression when he felt like it. Well that’s not good enough I’m not expecting red carpet treatment however some basic customer service would be appreciated. In the meantime I will be taking my $20 a week business to Orange Bakery down the road. If is the employee has an intellectual disability I am unaware of please disregard this complaint.
As you can see approximately a month ago I left a honest one star review and received a reply to email my contact details so management could contact me which I have done. To date I haven’t received a reply which explains why employees at this bakery got a low standard of customer service when management is not much better. Thanks to your very poor customer service I have discovered orange bakery down the road make great coffee and their pastries are out of this world. Not to mention wonderful customer...
Read moreI discovered Banjo's by walking through Moseley square the other day. Used to walk around alot. Just starting walking alot up again. So, back to Banjo's! This Tasmanian franchise is delightful for five main reasons, not in any particular order: 1) They are open from 06:00 to 18:00, 7 days. (Plus open till 19:00 Sat & Sun). 2) They have a wonderful, eye catching, clean shop layout (reminiscent of Beechworth bakery Bendigo store but better). 3) good, value for money, pricing. 4) Great coffee, drinks, food. 5) Brilliant, friendly, smiling service.
Because they are situated in the premises that used to host McDonalds, they don't stick out that much just from driving down Jetty road so they are easily missed to the unfamiliar or like me, haven't been out and about walking for a while. So, because of this I would urge the franchisee to consider the marketing because with the right marketing, (letting the demand know there is this supply), this bakery will be the hottest gig in Glenelg! All the...
