Long one but bear with me because it was such a disappointing experience. I’ve been coming to Cibo here at Glenelg for years but this year the customer service has been severely lacking.
On our final morning for this visit we ordered 4 coffees and food, the fee the girl charged us felt too little so I asked if she charged us for the food (which she’d given us half of already: a muffin and orange poppy seed cake) and she said no, then charged us another $12 for the food. We went back in to get the coffee and ask for the spinach tart that we’d ordered (they handed over a cannolo instead) and then the staff proceeded to talk among themselves, trying to chase the order and then stating they hadn’t put it through and needed to redo it. I told them that they’d already mixed up the order once and undercharged (which honestly I could have walked away and not paid for) and then I got served a nice attitude because I was perceived as being rude.
Today (Jan 2nd) was the least busy day of the holiday period, we have spent approx $25-30 on each visit yet the incompetence and lack of positive attitude, welcoming nature and understanding when the customer is right (I.e staff owning up to their mistakes and showing gratitude when a customer saves them from trouble in balancing the till at the end of the day) was completely off. The team lead needs to balance her defense of “her staff” against customer intent and proper service delivery, in the end i walked out with no idea what I was actually charged for. We grabbed a second coffee from Saltbush after, happy to engage with a friendly face.
Cibo being bought by GJs is probably welcome, the overall quality is closer to the GJs level not the Cibo we know and loved.

On 1 January 2025, I visited and ordered the largest size of a dirty chai with skim milk, extra hot. I was charged an outrageous $16.56 for it. After an above-average waiting time, I received two small cups instead of my order.
When I questioned it, a man interrupted and told the woman handling my order that it was for one Alto size. Shockingly, the woman then poured the two small cups into a large takeaway cup , handed it to me, and called it done. No apology, no explanation, and it wasn’t even extra hot as ordered!
To top it off, these incompetent staff overcharged me by over $8 for the wrong order, and no one had the decency to acknowledge their mistake. They just walked away like nothing happened.
The experience was disgusting, unprofessional, and outright appalling. I didn’t even bother addressing the overcharge further—I just wanted to get out of that horrendous place. This is by far the dumbest, most horrible staff I’ve...

I don't understand why this one wins best coffee in glenelg. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's Cibo quality; however, the staff is hit and miss. I travel a lot for work and make Cibo my go to when in new areas. Glenelg Cibo has the most uninterested in their job staff. Makes sense though, the franchisee had a cash cow so (s)he doesn't have to worry about being in the black each financial cycle. That being said, if you're looking for a better coffee and a better experience, there are better choices nearby with a shorter wait and...
