First of all I want to point out to those who leave bad reviews mentioning the meal was overpriced, stop being a retard and check the online menu for price and stop nagging. First check the price and then be ready for any portion size otherwise go to a food court and dine there. Classy restaurants have smaller portion size meals and price is not cheap. I reckon their meal portions are perfect and I check the prices before I go there so don't complain about price.

Now lets get to my feedback and thoughts:

I love this place. The food is great. I have been there many times and the food was always delicious and great.

Though on the last visit we made last week, the pastas have been slightly different than before. There were 3 of use dinning in.

My wife ordered the Al Salmone in the past but this time it had a big scoop of Avocado and did not taste the same as before. Also it had chunkier pieces of capsicum as well. Both have changed the overall taste significantly and the pasta tasted mostly like avocado and capsicum.

I ordered the Con Carciofi and also it was not the same as before. There were big chunks of Prosciutto and Artichokes, and the entire pasta tasted like Artichoke. I expected the same as before with shreds of prosciutto and artichoke but these changes have changed the taste of the pasta significantly and sour as artichoke.

My friend also ordered the Carbonara and it had too much bacon and cheese in it and was very greasy to a point that he did not like it much either.

I am not sure what has been happening with the chef and all his perfect dishes have been downgraded, whether he did it himself or the boss ordered, but that was a very bad mistake.

Though we love dinning in this restaurant and have done that several times, we are now unsure if we want to go there again since these changes.

I would have given a 5 star otherwise but can't do more than 3 star.

Overall, the taste has come down and made us a bit upset when we have tried those delicious dishes in the past several times and wanted to have it again and all 3 of us were disappointed.

I hope the chef comes to this realization that his changes have destroyed the perfect taste of their pastas and revert it back to how...

I don't normally give such low scores on reviews but there are a few reasons why I feel this is warranted and will explain why. Whilst our waitress was lovely and had a great sense of humour, the first negative was offering us "still or sparkling water" but omitting to offer tap or filtered water and bringing us bottled water which we discovered when paying the bill cost $9 per 750ml bottle! As none of us are alcohol drinkers this made for a very expensive beverage cost. We ordered herb and garlic bread to start and were told that they had run out of bread (!) and were given the suggestion of a plate of salt and pepper calamari as an alternative to share. It was not a huge serve and acted well as a taster (divided between 4 there were only 3 small pieces of calamari each) but once again we were shocked at the $36 price tag on the bill. When the bill was paid (in cash), the receipt was requested for our records. The itemised bill (where all the prices were listed) was "for their records" instead, as a receipt we were given a hand written note "food and beverage" with the total cost given; no breakdown of prices for the water or the dishes ordered. While the food was fine it certainly wasn't outstanding (especially for the price). Some dishes were better than others but I would not call this authentic Italian by any stretch (I have lived in Italy and know authentic when I taste it) and found the prices steep for what...

Overpriced for what was served. Tasted like home cooked food or something you’d reheat to eat after a long day when you can’t be bothered cooking. My friend had to leave to vomit out the food.

Sparkling water lasted 2 seconds before the water tasted still. Very disappointing as I do love a good sparkling water. Might want to change the brand of sparkling water or remove it from the menu completely.

Staff was friendly and warm but when I went up to pay, there were extra items added to our bill, it was removed after inspection.

The whole team moved and looked disorderly, the whole system was messy. There were papers of people’s orders on a counter that the man was trying to figure out who’s was who’s… Easier if the papers had the number/letter/location of the table on it and if it were in the order of the table’s numbers/letters/location (whatever capriccio decide on) and not everywhere.

Toilets did not flush properly, one cubicle had no toilet paper. Place someone in charge of checking this every now and then, thanks. Embarrassing for customers to have to verbally tell staff when they’re there to dine and enjoy themselves. Very unprofessional.

Two stars - one for the presentation of food and one for the warmth and friendliness of staff.

Would I recommend this place? I still would but...

This authentic Italian gem is exactly what we were looking for when we craved some pasta and vino on our visit to Glenelg SA. You just never know what’s hiding in the side suburban streets. The only reason we saw this was because it happened to be in the same street as our AirBNB. So glad we tried it. Got our pasta fix and it was just yummy 😋 I had the homemade ravioli and my husband had the spaghetti marinara, both were tasty and full of flavour. The service was prompt and friendly. Owned by an Italian family for 30 years I can’t believe this was the first time we came across it. Will definitely go back on our next visit.

It gives me great pleasure to write this review last night in the space of two weeks I have had a meal at Capriccio in Glenelg, let me tell you that if you’re looking for a little gem of a restaurant this is it, the steak is out of this world, Damien was our waiter and once again the service was excellent. It’s a rare occasion walking into a restaurant and having a feeling of being treated as if you’re the only table, absolutely wonderful experience. On this occasion I brought a friend of mine that teeters between vegan and meat dishes well his comments about the steak and pumpkin was “amazing”. Definitely going back!!
