We felt like we were being pushed out the door & I won't be continuing my patronage.
I'm in two minds about this review, wanting to give the benefit of the doubt despite having a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. My overall impression is a feeling of being looked down upon by the gentleman who took our order, but a small kindness was extended in our favour, so I'm mentioning this. I will just tell the story and let you decide your own mind.
I've given a neutral rating, not overly bad, not being excessively harsh, not nitpickingly critical and not outstandingly good either. I think my fairest impression is neither sweet nor sour thus my overall impression is to liken my experience, plus my wife's experience to porridge, bland.
My wife and I arrived in Adelaide late in the day after travelling for 6 hours. We visited those whom we were in Adelaide to visit (sister, whom was in the cardiac unit of a nearby hospital) and went to this Fasta Pasta restaurant for our evening meal as it was very close to our hotel. It was about 9:10pm on a Saturday night.
The restaurant was closing at 9:30pm and so we had to order a takeaway meal instead of dining in. We ordered a barramundi dish each, which were delicious but was served in a deep cardboard box, that the disposable cutlery had to be finessed to use effectively and the salad seemed to have had nil effort spent in either taste or presentation. It was little more than a quartered tomato, lettuce & dressing.
Our drink was a takeaway, large bottle of lemonade for us to share. The manager, I'm guessing, took our order but wouldn't allow us to pay by credit or bank card. I think it must have been that the EFTPOS system had been shut down early for the night as the restaurant had no customers during our 20 minutes there, however cash was accepted, I'm assuming they hadn't yet balanced the cash register for the days trade. We had enough cash on hand to pay for our meals but didn't have enough loose change to cover the drink, a large, bottle of ordinary, lemonade, charged at a whopping mark up price. A kindness was afforded us by the drink price being lowered to match the coins we had on hand, still enough to achieve a handsome profit on the drink but at a reduced price. Before being told that the coins we had were acceptable I asked a third time if he was certain that he couldn't allow us to pay by card.
We sat down at a table whilst we waited for our meals to be cooked.
On the table was a double sided, standing, menu promotional thing which I perused the both sides of. No sooner had I sat it back down than the gentleman who took our order, came and spun the menu 180°, reversing it's outward facing, orientation. This single action I took as being more rude than his indifference to us not being prepared to pay with cash instead of card. The staff member couldn't even wait two minutes for our takeaway meal to be ready and us to leave the establishment before arranging the table presentation, whilst we were seated at it.
I know that we had just spent a day travelling, weren't dressed in our finest robes and preferreda to use cards instead of cash but it felt like we were being rushed out of the door, that our slightly dishevelled appearance was beneath the standards of an empty restaurant. Our manner of dress was long pants, long sleeves and shoes, not singlets and board shorts. This Fasta Pasta establishment is supposed to be a family restaurant, not a Michelin rated, fine dining experience.
Maybe this whole thing is because I'm caucasian and my wife is aboriginal?!!! Maybe it's overtired, weary travellers being unreasonable. As I said at the start, I'll just relay the story and let you, the...
Read moreDisappointing Service Experience at Fasta Pasta Adelaide.
My family and I recently dined at Fasta Pasta in Adelaide and felt compelled to share our experience due to the concerning level of service received. Despite arriving well within the opening hours, we were initially told by one staff member that we couldn't place an order. Fortunately, the chef intervened and graciously offered us a seat, allowing us to order our meals. The food itself was satisfactory, arriving promptly and meeting our expectations in terms of taste.
However, the service we encountered overshadowed the quality of the food. While we were in the midst of our meal, a gentleman approached our table, attempting to clear our unfinished plates and bluntly informing us that they were waiting for us to finish. This abrupt interaction was followed by the staff locking the doors and turning off the lights as we hurried to complete our meal. It is important to note that we were dining with two children, who naturally require more time to eat compared to adults.
I strongly recommend that Fasta Pasta prioritises mandatory effective customer service training for all employees. Perhaps a deeper understanding of Western dining customs would be beneficial in maintaining the restaurant's reputation as a friendly, family-oriented establishment.
It is disheartening to see such a well-regarded restaurant fall short in providing a welcoming and accommodating dining experience. I hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and implements the necessary changes to restore Fasta Pasta's...
Read moreWow, this was honestly the worst food experience I've had before. I've never felt compelled to write a google review of any food I've had, good or bad. But this was horrendous, this review is solely based on the food as we ordered take out. I just want to preface that this isn't my first time at Fasta Pasta, and for the most part the dine in experiences have been pretty good. But this has been a few years since I've been a patron here.
When I went to order the price for Bolognese was 18 dollars, which was already outrageous, add to that the fact the food was delayed (not their fault of course, uber has responsibility but it adds to the unsatisfactory experience as a whole). When it did arrive, I was greeted to a sealed container of compressed noodles, with a peppering of meat and sauce on top of it. Now I had to microwave it which again, wasn't their fault, but when I did finally scoop it out into a bowl, I was left with the final product seen below. Barely any meat, any sauce and the noodles just felt uncooked, I would not be surprised if they had cooked this beforehand and had left it in the fridge until some poor soul ordered it. Best part of the whole meal was the cookies and cream frappe, however was only filled about 3 quarters full. I genuinely would like a refund or some compensation for this, but at the very least a reminder for others to think twice about ordering from here.
