We recently had the pleasure of dining at Allegra Dining Room, and what a memorable experience it was. Although we’re not strictly vegan or vegetarian, we care deeply about the quality of our food and the story behind it—where it comes from, how it's treated, and how thoughtfully it's prepared. That’s exactly what drew us to Allegra: a venue that champions conscious, plant-based dining with purpose and integrity.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the charm of the space. The dining room is intimate and beautifully designed—thoughtful touches throughout, striking artwork on the walls, and an exceptional audio system that fills the space with warmth without overwhelming it. The acoustics are perfect, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment to settle into the experience.
The service was equally impressive. There’s a clear sense of genuine, professional hospitality here—staff who are passionate, knowledgeable, and effortlessly attentive. It felt personal without being intrusive, polished yet welcoming.
The real highlight, of course, was the food. We indulged in a multi-course plant-based degustation that was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish was a celebration of technique and flavour—each ingredient treated with such care and creativity, coaxed into something extraordinary. The beverage pairings were a triumph in their own right, perfectly complementing and elevating each course.
It was clear just how much thought and effort had gone into every plate. Each course was complex yet clean, vibrant yet balanced—and we genuinely could’ve eaten double the servings. It’s that kind of food that leaves you full of admiration… and just a little bit hungry for more.
Allegra isn’t just a dinner—it’s a culinary journey, a perfect choice for a special occasion or anyone looking to reconnect with the beauty of mindful dining. Even if vegan food isn’t usually your thing, we’re confident you’ll be as blown away as we were by the bold flavours, stunning presentation, and overall experience.
Thank you to the Allegra team for such a unique and inspiring evening. We’ll absolutely be back.

Read moreI cannot even begin to express how disappointed I was with this experience. I have been vegan for a decade and this is by far the worst plant based food I have ever eaten. And if I was reading this, I might think, oh this person is exaggerating but unfortunately I'm not. 150 a head is extortionate for the poor excuse of dishes we received. The cold soup was just strange, the vegetables were practically raw sitting in butter (why?), the pate tasted like nothingness, the lettuce thing was bitter, the potato was dull, the bread was stodgy, the watermelon was so tart it was like eating slimy acid, the gravy was watery, the mushrooms under seasoned, the puree was an odd texture and actively unpleasant tasting. The dessert isn't worth a mention. The cashew tart and palette cleanser were the only two average but acceptable dishes. I couldn't believe my eyes when I could see everyone in the restaurant finishing their plates and reading the majority of the positive reviews. I thought maybe they had some random person dragged in who didn't know how to cook in the kitchen, but no, chef was in, unfortunately as it turns out. I urge you to read the bad reviews as they are giving you the honest truth. Don't waste your money. I have been living in London the last 5 years and have been to some exceptional vegan restaurants like Gauthier and I was hoping this would be Adelaide's vegan fine dining experience. Instead, as the only vegan on the table, I was left embarrassed and needing to ensure the two others dining with me that this is not a fair representation of vegan food. I've had better meals on a Qatar flight! If I can save someone else from paying the 450 dollars I forked out for the worst vegan meal out there, then it will comfort me just a little. 12 dishes, 2 passable... these are not good stats!! As I paid the bill, I had to laugh or I would cry. AVOID!!!...
