Overall the experience was quite disappointing with not much positive to really say. We don’t ‘instagram famous’ following, the photos look great but unfortunately that doesn’t translate into the taste and service experienced.
Food: 5 meals were ordered and all arrived at varying time difference from time of being ordered.
Smashed avo: it is clear that the avocado is a concentrated blend (purée) that is bought in frozen then thawed. There was no fresh avo to be seen on the plate. The overall taste was bland and lacking.
Why’d the chicken cross the road: 2 were ordered and both were clearly over cooked and dry. The dish is served with what appears to be mayonnaise in a syringe that are intended for single use and whether they are food grade or not is unknown however it is clear that from the condition of them the syringes are recycled.
French toast: overall the meal was very dry as the toast was clearly precooked as when it arrived the toast was cold, the smallest scope of ice cream was present which was insufficient to combat the dryness. The use of pecans ( a dryer nut compared to others) contributed to the dryness.
Drinks/coffee: juices are clearly bottled and placed into a glass and not fresh. Coffee was inconsistent and was either luke-warm or scalding hot.
Service: table bookings are limited to 1hour 30mins which isn’t a real issue, that is unless the service of taking orders and your meals/order arriving isn’t an issue. Unfortunately it took forever for our meals and drinks to come out which result in staff telling us it was time to leave although we had not received all our order even after following up on missing items 3 times. We were puzzled when all service staff had iPads and carried them around however some staff refused to take orders and said ‘oh she’ll take your order’. Also attempted to place orders inside at the counter but no one was there to take orders and was told but a staff member to sit down and someone would immediately be over however a good 10 minutes passed before we got the attention of someone.
The response we received when advising as to why we exceeded our time limit was quite abrupt and rude with an impression it was our fault.
Although the photos on instagram look good the overall food, service and experience is completely different from the photos posted online.
Unfortunately we would not recommend a visit unless...
Read moreAndonis is a nice cafe with good food and good coffee and good service. I have been there multiple times, however:
Con’s: Service: I would say almost every staff member has great customer service which is fantastic except for one. Always a bad apple in the basket. I believe she has terrible customer service as on one occasion when I went there. I wait around 3-5 minutes to be served as she was busy flirting with a guy that already had his coffee. Second time while staff were busy making coffee and serving people, I was waiting for service and she was too busy standing around and complaining about her work hours and pay. “If you don’t like the job, leave”. Other service times she has never given a warm welcome like all the other staff. “The Indian looking girl staff member”. Everytime I go there I hope I don’t get her serving me because then I know I will be having a bad morning. Price: The quality of the food does come close, however I believe the quantity is lacking. I once ordered the Andonis OG big brekkie $39. I was still very hungry after. Plus on public holidays and some non holidays. They charge a 25% surcharge. I have been around many cafes/restaurants etc and they don’t go over 15%. I do understand businesses need to make up cost for the increased public pay…but come on.. Update: I have decided to remove a couple stars and this is because: I happened to experience the same events again and when I received a response to my review, you forgot to remove the ChatGPT. So I know nothing has really been done considering the same events occurred again with the same staff. It is a rather shame as Adonis is a nice place and majority of staff there are absolutely fantastic. If only that could be...
Read moreIt was an extremely disappointing experience at the restaurant today. We expected to have a lovely brunch with friend. While eating the pasta, one of us bit into something very hard and initially thought it was a chicken bone. To our shock, it turned out to be a sharp clear piece that could have easily injured tongue or mouth. We immediately requested to speak with the manager, but her response was completely unacceptable. She didn’t even bother to look at the plate to examine the piece or ask if the one was hurt. Instead, the first thing she said was, “Would you like a coffee or some drinks? They’ll be on the house.” Looks like a coffee would somehow make up for what had just happened! When we didn’t respond, her attitude quickly shifted, and she simply asked, “Would you like me to refund this dish?” What the answer? Should not you care about a little bit of the people or your food safety? The entire interaction felt dismissive, she only cared about getting rid of us rather than addressing the serious food safety issue. The communication was unpleasant, and it was clear that she had no concern for customer’s well-being or how such incidents should be handled. In the end, they refunded the dish, but the way she did it was shockingly rude—she just threw the money onto our table and walked away, leaving us stunned. I can’t understand how a restaurant could tolerate such behavior from its staff. It’s alarming to think that someone else might have a similar experience. On top of that, the bathroom was disgustingly dirty, clearly lacking proper cleaning. We would never recommend this...
