If you are a big eater, this is not for you, at least one bowl isn't enough. I actually noticed all other customers were served half bowl of noodles, whatever they chose, just felt this restaurant is being cheap considering its price tags. I ordered DanDan noodle, which was far from authentic, not spicy whatsoever, kind of tasteless, and it is a shame that it is called Sichuan and labeled Hot. I also ordered a Rougamo because of their tiny serve that I had noticed, which was also not good, its boar taint wasn't removed properly. As for the service, a number was given, I thought just sit there and wait, then the food and chopsticks would be served together, just like most places, turned out only noodles, I had to went back to cashier to get them, I wondered what the whole point of giving me that number was? I give you 2 stars, one is my review, one more star is to urge you to improve, if you want to. So the owner responded me that they can put chili oil 'floating' on it or I could use the chili oil on the table. Well, thanks for these simple solutions, but its flavor would be overwhelmed by this NW-styled chili oil, which is utterly amateur and even worse. How about just take this Sichuan DanDan noodle off the menu, how about increase the quantity to a full bowl rather than being cheap? I see the owner was just reluctant to improve and making excuses, so I just removed the...
Read moreI can't say good enough things about this place and here's my reason why. I showed up on my birthday and they were just about to close, my bad, I showed up at 8:33pm after waiting for a friend of mine to arrive. Not an excuse but stay with me here... When I asked if they were open, reluctantly the young men out the front advised us that they were just about to shut, I apologised and said thank you but thought I'd pull the cheeky 'what if it were my birthday today, and I came here specifically because I love biang biang noodles?' The older gentleman came out from the back and got excited, asking me if it really was my birthday, my partner and friend confirmed it, and he instantly lept in to action getting our orders, recommending dishes, a soup type for my partner and asking us to take a seat! This was my third time to biang biang fresh noodle and holy moley, it just seems to get better. I didn't think I was hungry, but the bowl was finished in 10 minutes, as well as a soy sauce egg (which I was told was a tradition) and some pickled cabbage and carrot which paired amazingly, refreshing the palate and making the dish even better. I'd never had this combination before but I'm now referring to it as the holy trinity... Can't wait to get back there to...
Read moreI don't understand how it's currently rated at a 4.6/5 on google. Staff were friendly and prompt, nothing wrong there. The food however was a massive let down. Ordered 3 noodles dishes and simply put they were kind of gross. I only ate as much as I did out of shear hunger. The noodles themselves were mediocre but was expecting something great after reading all the reviews. The broth pretty ordinary with the flavour of it, the richness/oiliness of it actually making me feel nauseous. Have literally had numerous instant noodle packets taste better. I didn't brave eating the egg. Portion size was probably fair for the average stomach. The wontons were somewhat yuck in flavour but presentation was nice enough. The pickled veg was nice but if left to marinade/pickle longer and it would have been a lot nicer. Off the top of my head I would suggest going to a 1919 noodle place or really anywhere else instead as it's...
