šŸ‡«šŸ‡·Bisou Bisou is a French Brasserie connected to Hotel X in the Valley. As part of the Ghanem Group (think Byblos, Donna Chang) I was excited about trying this restaurant while I was up in Brisbane. šŸøThe decor and ambience is incredibly lovely. Arriving early we ordered some lovely cocktails before sitting for our meal. Service was friendly and helpful with our questions. The dining area is lush and the menu had me excited. The dishes were overall fine, but unfortunately when considering the price and potential, I rated it 3.5 stars as it just didn’t live up to expectations: šŸ†the baked aubergine dish came with zucchini flowers, which I love, but unfortunately was quite one-noted in flavours. While the chickpeas added texture, they were overcooked and hard rather than crispy. 🄩I didn’t try the steak, but my friends who did said it was fine but perhaps didn’t reflect the price point šŸ«•the potatoes with the fondue were under seasoned and the fondue dip was just too small to really dig in to add cheese šŸ°the Opera cake was complimentary which was a nice touch šŸ®I didn’t try the brulee but my friends seemed to enjoy šŸ«the chocolate eclair was incredibly pretty, but super stodgy šŸ˜•There’s so much this restaurant is doing right including decor and service. The food wasn’t terrible, it just didn’t deliver on the expectations that the lux settings and price point set.

Wife and I were visiting family in Brisbane and after some googling, decided to give this place a try for dinner to celebrate our belated anniversary. The restaurant had a big spacious dining room but had a nice ambience, although perhaps a tad dark seated against the wall. The sofa seating was also a little too low for the tables and shorter diners would really have to 'sit up straight' when eating. The young waiter with a French accent who looked after us appears to know the quite extensive food and drinks menu well. Our entree of beetroot cured ocean trout served with battered caperberries was light and fresh, and the steak tartare served with potato crisps was generous and tasty. However the standout starter was the tartlet of confit duck with liver parfait and blood orange (more like mandarin) superbly accompanied by its thin and wonderfully crisp tart shell, very tasty and dish of the meal! We shared a main of half a rotisserie duck with roasted figs and onions, also very tasty. We didn't really need the extra side of roast potatoes with a somewhat subtle comte fondue but didn't leave any leftovers. In fact there was room to share the brie cheesecake to finish, although this was a little bland and underwhelming. Overall competent and tasty dishes but perhaps closer to average Parisian bistro standard than the high end dining suggested by the prices.

It was clear the restaurant struggled with insufficient staff both front of house and back of house, despite not many tables occupied on the night. Booked dinner for group of 7 at the restaurant. It was a long wait for food, and when food arrived, they are not necessarily hot (eg - Baked Camembert was only lukewarm warm, when our mains arrived some of them were also not very hot). It was clear that the kitchen struggled to serve (although at the time there were only around 5 tables occupied). Similarly, while the waitress was friendly, we struggled to get her attention to get water refilled or anything. When the main plates were cleared she did clear 5 out of 7 plates and then did not return for over 10 minutes (had forgotten to clear the rest and to show dessert menu). While I understand that could be an issue when it is busy, her staring at the pass waiting for food to be ready and chatting with the other waitress is not necessarily helpful when she could have at least checked the tables once in a while. We had our bottle of wine not yet finished and she did not tell us when we asked for the bill, and had to look for someone to bring the bottle back so we can finish. Overall, a shame as the restaurant ambience was nice but clearly services did not keep up.

Service was disappointing. The errors became so disruptive it was difficult to have a good night. Wouldn't recommend

One of our party had a nut allergy, which we advised on booking and again when they ordered their meal. They had a dish covered in nuts given to them. It was fixed, but would be a very dangerous situation if they were highly allergic. When the correct meal was given our waitress, told us the Kitchen staff had been making mistakes all night.

I was given the wrong entre, which was not a problem. I mentioned to the head waiter and he apologised. Our waitress returned and apologied to me saying she would get the correct dish. When I reassured her multiple times it wasn't necessary and that I was enjoying the one they served. I was told "no this is a French restaurant and it's fine dining, it should be this way. You will have the meal and you will enjoy it"

We asked for a bottle of bubbles before dessert. When the waitress arrived the bottle she was holding was the shape of a still white wine. I explained that is not the correct bottle and tried to help her see it wasn't the right one to stop her getting in trouble. I was snapped at saying "look I know the menu okay. If it's wrong I won't charge you for it". After breaking the cork and eventually getting it open she poured some in a champagne glass and asked me to check if it was bubbly. It wasn't. "But you saw me open the bottle right here how is it flat?" There was over 5 minutes before she returned, throwing the bar staff under the bus saying they didn't even have the bottle we ordered in stock. She provided no alternative. I then simply asked for any bottle of bubbles under $100. She returned, poured the glasses and assured me the initial incorrect one was removed from the bill.

After not being given cutlery for dessert and another staff member having to get it sorted. We had a nice dessert. We had put in our booking there was a member of our group having a birthday. We were hoping something nice would have been done for her. Nothing was.

There were multiple other little mistakes during the night which the head waiter was aware of. No comments were made or attempts to rectify a very interrupted night. Not even an apology when paying the bill.

When looking over the receipt today, we have been charged for the incorrect bottle of wine which we were assured was removed.

The food was extremely tasty, but with the service we received we will not be back and I cannot recommend trying. Especially if you...

Went here last night for dinner. My brother and I are visiting from Townsville, so we don't have a lot of fine-dining experience. Despite this, the staff made us feel very welcomed, and they never spoke down to us or made us feel awkward or uncomfortable. The atmosphere is beautiful, and relaxing. For starters, we ordered the Vol au Vent D'escargot, and the Steak Tartar. Both were super tasty, and the portions were incredibly generous. The steak tartar was well-seasoned, and the escargot had a very nice texture. For mains, my brother ordered the steak Frites and I ordered the burger. The steak was so tender, and my burger was really nice. The sauce was delicious! The portions sizes were, once again, very generous, and the chips were crunchy and had a really nice seasoning on them. For dessert, my brother ordered the Creme Brulee, and I ordered the Sticky Date Pudding. I didn't realise that the sticky date pudding had nuts in it - I thought they were just on the side. I'm not a huge fan of nuts (sensory issues) so I only had 2 bites. Not the restaurant's fault though, and the dish was nice! Just not my thing :) However, my brother and I ended up sharing the creme brulee (it was a very large portion :D) and it was just amazing. The whole dining experience was wonderful, and our server was so professional and friendly! When we come to Brisbane again, we'll definitely be returning.

Also, I did order a glass of the Domaine gautheron chardonnay for myself and my brother. I'm not a wine connoisseur by any means, but this was a really gorgeous chardonnay. Very smooth, and didn't leave a bitter after-taste like a lot of other wines I've had. It was just very enjoyable, and even my brother who's not a huge wine drinker said that he liked it a...

I have to decided to offer some feedback after my last visit to Bisou Bisou on Friday. I used to dine there a few years ago and used to love staying in the hotel and getting room service! I had not been for a while but took my Mother a few months ago when the $25 deal was offered. We were both disappointed that day but I thought well, you get what you pay for. So I gave one more chance last Friday for the anniversary of my partner and and I. My partner has not been before. First I will say the staff were friendly and did try their best. Unfortunately their food and wine knowledge is well below what a restaurant should have. That's fine, we can figure out. But the food was so disappointing again and this time it was not $25! The mussels with bouillabaisse was not bouillabaisse. The sauce was basically some stock with a little tomato paste, cream and a couple of chives. Completely incorrect. I had the pork special which was accompanied by the most overcooked cabbage it was basically a marmalade. The side salad was far from fresh and drowned in dressing. The quality of the steak was low. Everything had just too much salt. Using salt instead of actual ingredients is not good. I ordered an Armagnac for the end of my meal and clearly no one knew what I wanted. Twenty minutes later it came to me in a cold whisky tumbler. Also incorrect and a complete waste of money. The restaurant was practically empty and has lost most of its original charm. Tables and chairs all mismatched and uncomfortably crammed in. No ambience. $230 of disappointment. I will not be returning, and certainly never be recommending the restaurant to anyone else again. I can only help that my feedback can help the restaurant get back to what used to be a...
