Bar Brutus — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Bar Brutus is a beautiful little nook with lovely bartenders, distinguished spirits, and prime window-seat-watching location on Fish Lane.

We came on a Thursday night with no booking, but secured a corner seat for the evening. Bar Brutus is table service, and the menu offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, with limited bar menu.

From the spuntini menu we shared the Burrata / Tomato and Olive Salsa / Focaccia, which was divine. The focaccia wasn’t toasted with herbs as I usually prefer, but it was spongy and perfect for absorbing the oil and cheese.

Don’t walk up to the bar dressed in anything that doesn’t have you coming straight from a fancy show if you want good service. I am a casual dresser…. A good pair of jeans and a good fitting jumper that just happens to have a hood yet as soon as I walked up to the bar I was looked up and down and judged until my payment went through. I am a chef and come from Melbourne where the pretentiousness is high and I wouldn’t expect that from laid back Brisbane yet that’s the vibe and service I got. I had an incredible experience at Bar Brutus! The wine selection was outstanding, offering a variety of delicious options.
