Goes to a burger joint and orders something without meat...who'd have thunk it? My colleagues were certainly bemused 😆 But after my previous experience of not being all that wowed by both beef and chicken burgers, and getting multiple recommendations for the mushroom one, I threw caution to the wind! Ordered: * shroom burger, $13 - crispy fried mushroom patty with melted Gouda and Gruyere cheese, lettuce, tomato, Betty's special sauce * lemon raspberry cheesecake concrete, $6 - vanilla custard, lemon curd, lemon zest, raspberries, New York cheesecake, ginger crumble This new store on Albert Street is pretty close to my office, and popped up last December under my nose - I didn't find out until the new year. It was quite busy when we visited - spent about 10 minutes queueing to order, then another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. My shroom burger was pretty tasty, I guess having all that cheese was key. Whilst the flavour was good, and I appreciated a bit of crunch/bite from the crispy batter, I thought it was overall lacking the bite you get with meat patties. Perhaps if the mushroom was left more intact or in bigger chunks? It was also my first time trying their concretes (frozen custard). It was nice though I probably would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't trying to wolf it down due to the wait before getting our food. Might give these another go next time when I'm not watching the clock so much.

I just want to preface this with the fact that the staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating to my partner and I with our newborn baby. They made sure we had a place to put our pram and that we had adequate seating. I had heard from others that were with us that the beef burgers were great. My partner and I ordered the shroom burgers in the hopes that we would get that same experience we had when we first went to Betty's in Noosa (before they started opening everywhere) but unfortunately it was just not the same. The shroom patties used to be two mushrooms put together with cheese inside of them. These were then crumbed. They were genuinely mind blowingly good. I was sad to see that these patties now appear to be half of what they used to be - just pieces of mushroom in some kind of liquid cheese and then crumbed and fried.

You know, when your business model is dedicated to a specific product you'd better be amazing at it. With Betty's Burgers I'd say they're pretty close - good, not great. And for the price point, it's just alright. We'd walked past this place half a dozen times so we gave it a shot. First we stood at the entrance trying to figure out what we were supposed to do - there was no one (and no sign) saying the process is. Good one! So if the whole schtick is grab a menu and then go up and order everything yourself, it's probably a good to make that super clear for anyone new to Betty's. And if you're gonna advertise that you have Betty's Beer in your menu, it's also probably a good idea to actually keep that in stock. So overall was it worth it? Eh, not really. All things considered I'd probably elsewhere.

The service was fantastic, very helpful and efficient - these new staff members have been trained well and are motivated. My partner and I both had the Betty Classic burger plus a serve of chips. We ordered one burger with no onion, but both came with onion and it wasn't apparent until my partner had started eating it. Onion gives him an upset stomach, but it was too late. The order was taken correctly as it was read back to us. The burger patties were a little thin and lacked taste and the buns had that plastic type texture which is not like normal bread rolls. The chips were thin French fries, only lukewarm and full of those dried up overcooked bits from the bottom of the cooker. We asked for them to be replaced, which was done immediately without any drama and we were given fresh hot chips. However, while they were hot, they weren't tasty and still had many dried out chips which we just left behind. If you like thick tasty chips, you may not want to pay $5 for one bucket of thin...
