Worst experience ever. I came here for lunch Sunday 8/5/22. I hated the service those women who served me. This is not a Japanese hospitality standard. They look like Chinese who pretend to be japanese. I waited 30 minutes to be served while there's only 4 customers. I can not believe I payed $24 for 6 sushi and a small cup of jelly. Anyway so I asked this girl a question how their restaurant and system works and she just looked at me with anger and hostility. They have a very negative attitude and bad energy. She was so toxic, she shouldn't be working in hospitality. The sushi where not even fresh. They where so many plates sitting in the middle and the sushi I had was definitely not the best. I guess I have standard who has experienced real authentic Japanese standard restaurants. But this is another cheap mock up restaurant claiming to be japanese. Everything was basic and average. I sat there for 30min trying to be served while I looked at the plates that was going around the circle and it seemed they where all left overs that nobody wanted. Anyway I was hungry the only one caught my eyes was the left over sitting in the middle of the kitchen waiting to be thrown out. So I asked the staff to have that one and she looked at me with an attitude. For those people who marks this restaurant with 5 star they just never experienced a true authentic Japanese cuisine. This is the lowest sushi place I have ever seen. Anyway my experience was ruined. I came out feeling sick and gross. I will never be coming back. I think I'll just go next door to another japanese restaurant it's cheaper and friendlier staff. I can keep going on but my time is important. This is my first time to put such a review because this restaurant sucks. I hate this place.

I came here for a quick dinner as it was recommended and I was in the area. They have all plates for $4.80 each (mostly including two nigiri/aburi, or one of the larger/more substantial sushi dishes). They also have other dishes, such as udon and sashimi sets. There was a good range of dishes available. I tried the following: - Aburi Ebi Cheese Nigiri: an interesting dish. The prawns were nice and the addition of the cheese added quite a nice flavour and texture to it - Aburi Salmon Mentaiko Nigiri: great dish and I’d definitely recommend it. However, it wasn’t that good, compared to other places I’ve tried - Grilled Salmon Avocado Hand Roll: the dish was nice but the seaweed casing was really chewy and I couldn’t actually bite/break it (I ended up having to eat half of the filling first and then putting the whole thing in my mouth) - Volcano: they weren’t joking about the spicy sauce. I personally found it a bit too spicy, but I thought the rest of it was nice (the salmon and scallops) - Vege gyoza: quite nice but nothing particularly special It’s a decent place with a nice vibe and was well decorated and clean. However, even though the food was good, I think there are better for a similar price!! Edit: came here again for dinner- great food and quick service!

Seriously good sushi S27°28.285' E153°1.582' Next to a Korean restaurant on Elizabeth Street, this conveyor belt Japanese sushi restaurant offers tables on one side. Beside dishes on the conveyor belt, a menu of drinks and meals is on an 'iPad'. Just choose, press and wait. If you have been to Japan in the past, it is always a gamble to visit a Japanese sushi restaurant outside Japan. However, we know from experience that Australia has a number of excellent sushi restaurants, like the Sushi Train in the Adelaide central market arcade. While enjoying Orion draft beer in September 2018, we ordered miso soup and 11 pieces of sushi from the conveyor belt and the “iPad” menu. The sushi was fresh, with nice textures and good flavours. With a big smile of our faces, we enjoyed their delicious sushi. The service from Japanese staff members (probably students but always a good indication) was swift. Although the dishes had different colours, there was just one-unit price: AU$3.80 per dish. Sushi Edo served seriously good sushi. Highly recommended.

I rated the restaurant 5 stars a few months ago but unfortunately this has changed.

The restaurant is very popular and as business increases, customer service and wait times, level of food quality and overall atmosphere decreases considerably with some businesses.

The last 3 times I went here have been either terrible or sub par and this was both in quiet times and busy. I don't expect much, I'm not some Princess. I want to eat and leave, so I'm well aware this is not some Michelin star place to dine but when you eat ANYWHERE you deserve a level of respect and dedication to your eating experience.

Went with a few friends the first time and instead of being told the restaurant was at capacity, were given a number and 25 MINS later in a long line of people, amongst screaming tired children and irritated adults we ended up leaving. Gave our number to a stressed family of 4 kids and parents. Very noisy and uncomfortable. We came back after an hour or so and were told too late, we are closing soon. Unacceptable.

Second time was a few weeks later with my sister. Witnessed a staff member being rude to customers, rolling her eyes, acted irritated when my sister ordered 3 drinks in a row on the iPad. Then proceeded to talk about customers in her language to another equally nasty staff member, which was translated by some Asian girls at another table who thought it was amusing. We left after only half an hour.

Third time was with a group of friends, waited 20 mins for a seat, were asked only 30 MINS after seating and halfway through our meals if we were ready to leave, yet there were 4 other tables of couples with two plates in front of them that according to other people had been there for over an hour chatting. Another table of women were disgusted to be asked the same thing. Spent over $100 between us and WE were asked to pretty much hurry up? What a joke.

The food- I get the soft shell crab. They've halved the portion, kept the same price. My friend ordered aburi beef sushi plate, the portions were tiny. The food just seems blah. Hurried out. And I used to come here 3 TIMES a week. I know when somethings up....

I love the iPad ordering system, imagine how you'd be treated if you had to speak to the staff to order? You would probably have to move out of Brisbane after what I've seen.... The restaurant needs to expand to accommodate their popularity. The staff needs to be taught friendliness and MANNERS. And to not denigrate customers in another language. Really disappointed as I was a dedicated customer, but everyone has their limits.

Shape up! I see other customers have had a good experience and that's great but I haven't and I'm sure others have noticed...

I've been to Sushi Edo on numerous occasions at varied locations, including the Elizabeth Street store. Unfortunately, I think this visit ruined my views about the chain. Entered at 8:20pm on New Year's Eve, to be told rudely by the waitress that I had to order in 10 minutes because the kitchen was closing. The problem is not the fact that I only had 10 minutes to order, but the way that I was told:

"The kitchen will close at 8:30 today so you have 10 minutes to order." Points me to seat

Should have said:

"Sorry, the kitchen closes in 10 minutes but do you mind placing your orders before then?"

Only after I said "yes", should you have pointed to the seat.

After asking if they had any tables available, she just shook her head and pointed at the seats she had chosen for us. You should use verbal communication.

Food was fine even though it was rushed.

They took away our soy sauce bowls so I had to get them back.

They didn't ask us for last order and just turned off our screens. I think you should confirm that noone wants to order before doing so.

After eating 16 plates and drinking 2 soft drinks between 2 people, the paper only reflected the 16 plates yet we got charged more, presumably the costs of the drinks were included. I'd happily pay for everything ordered, but honestly, if our bill says 16 plates only, then we should be charged for 16 plates only because that's your error.

All in all: Food presentation: 7/10 Food taste: 8/10 Restaurant cleanliness: 7/10 Customer service: 1/10 Price: 7/10 Total: 6/10 (3 stars)

Recommendations: You need better staff training. As a customer, I don't care that your kitchen is about to close; I just want to eat my dinner. I've worked in restaurants before so I can understand how it feels to have people walk in at the last moment, but you have to appreciate that they will be...
