While the food is incredible here and I haven't had issues with service in the past, last night was disappointing. Tasty, quick food aside, the server who approached us was very rude. I had ordered something off the 'kids menu'. After I had already paid through the app, the server came over and abruptly interrupted us. Instead of being kind and saying 'hey look, I'm really sorry to do this, would you mind ordering something off the adult menu', he chastised us... "THIS IS KIDS ONLY YOU ARE NOT KIDS". I was taken aback, he was very disrespectful. I explained politely that I have had weight-loss surgery and cannot eat very much. This didn't seem to matter, he would not leave us alone until we had asked for something else. I said, 'I'm sorry but I would like the meal that I have ordered and paid for'. He refused, saying that they are cheaper because they are for kids, all while tapping his foot waiting. I then cut my losses and asked for a bowl of chips instead, which costs LESS than a kids meal, go figure. The server never offered to process the refund and I couldn't be bothered dealing with him again so I actually did not get my refund. I have loved Birds Nest and eaten here for years and I will be coming back, but this was really disappointing. I have ordered from the kids menu before explaining my medical situation each time with no issues. It felt like this guy had a personal...
Read moreWe read a few reviews and were keen to check out FireBird for ourselves. We were heading to a gig at The Zoo nearby in Fortitude Valley at 7:30pm so booked in the for the early evening 6pm slot and arrived ahead of time. Behind us a queue was forming up Ann Street by the time they opened. We were warmly greeted on entry and given a few options for seating. In the window, at the bar. We picked around the corner over by the kitchen with a view of the action. There was an aka cate me he to order from with a few set menu options. We went for the $79 set menu and decided to try the full suite. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. Very professional. Within minutes we had drinks and lotus chips - so good. Next came a very fresh sashimi platter including highlights like the scallop and salmon roe. We enjoyed the shrilled prow a, Momo chicken (thigh) Takitor skewers from the grill, the wagu beef with wasabi and sprouts was beautiful and smokey and the Bai buns were really good. The broccolini was crunchy and smokey, very garlicky. We tried a few beers and a flight of the sake. All over it was a delicious and enjoyable experience. We would defiantly go again and highly...

I usually have dassai 45 this time I decide to change but when sake arrived to the table wasn't much colder than a room temperature tap water. I asked waitress if we could have swap to dassai 45 for two reason 1 definitely not cold enough 2 we didn't like it. Manager comes and tell us the bottle come from the fridge and this is the temperature we serve it ignoring the option it could have just been restocked in the fridge not long ago and rotate with a colder one. My Japanese friend was dining with me told him the same..." this sake is not cold enough". When I asked him " do you know what's the sake service temperatures " he stopped talking and after a few seconds of silence he replied "No". I think that explains everything, but not happy he replied to me in a arrogant way " do YOU know sake temperature service ??? Can't answer like that to a customer... short answer yes I know sake serv temp, I'm a sommelier and my friend is Japanese and have sake several times in his life in Japan.
