I went there with my wife and 6 month old after a walk in west end as I like coffee and wanted to see whether they had a bonbon coffee (with condensed milk). They did not have it but we sat for a coffee anyway. At some point, after we had a coffee and as we were about to leave I noticed that I needed to change the baby and asked where I can do this, I was told that there is no space on the bathroom and then I asked whether I can do it on the table ( we have mats and sanitiser obviously) as we have done many times in other restaurants. They told me that they would have to ask others so I decided that I would just be easier to do it in the pram. Just before doing that a guy came up to me a told me that there is a law that does not allow that and I would have to go to the toilet (where there was no space). When I asked him which law is that he told me that I have to either go to the toilet or leave! I have never heard of anyone being asked to leave a coffee shop so I would have thought that was hilarious if the baby was not that uncomfortable. I would have understood if the guy was concerned about other patrons but they looked more worried with that guy's attitude than a nappy change. At the end I decided to leave as that fine man that was telling me as he looked determined enough to even waste police time over something like that, but I found the...
Read moreGreat coffee, friendly staff. Will come back for more. Keep up the good work.
Hi, the only two times we visited, we only grabbed takeaway coffees, so I cannot comment on the dining experience, that’s why I only gave you a 4 star rating. I will have to keep my reservations until I actually sit down and have a meal there. But for whatever it is worth, I loved the coffee so much that I bought a one kg bag the second time. And the service was consistently good. We actually got a pear caramel danish the second time, which we thought was good but not the best we had had. And to be fair, you cannot make everyone happy. Sometimes it is not because of something you have or haven’t done. It could be a lot of things why people are not happy about your cafe, it could be the vibe there or the coffee beans you use or whatever. And I’ll always be happy to go back and get coffee from you guys. And usually if I give 3 stars, that’s when you should start worrying. 4 stars is above...
Read moreHow to turn a good review into a bad one... Step 1: Serve iced coffee frozen in a bottle. I know it says "iced" but it doesn't say frozen. Step 2: Offer no alternative solution, return or refund.
What was once a glowing review of one of West Ends last remaining original cafes has now been ruined by an inept manager.
if you serve a drink at full price i expect it to be drinkable, not half of it or wait half an hour for it to thaw. We actually had a staff member offer to replace it and the gutless manager overruled their decision and refused replacement and let the staff member deal with us.
We weren't rude or abusive, instead choosing to walk away, but now i feel compelled to buy my fortnightly 1 kg bag of coffee elsewhere, and share this story with friends I've previously recommended to here.
There are plenty of places to get good coffee in the immediate area, it's not a monopoly, patronage can be decided on far less than this pathetic...
