You know those meals that you love, can't stop thinking about and want to head back for seconds immediately? This was anything but.
The coffee was fine but nothing I would go out of my way for. The staff seemed a bit frazzled and didn't really listen for a response after asking questions, but understandable as it was quite busy.
3 of us ordered chicken of different varieties and all were unable to finish due to how salty it was. The room temp fries were a rare relief from the intense salty chicken crumb, or the salty 'hash' (a half squashed potato), or the salty pickled veggies in the chicken bowl. My mouth and throat are genuinely sore from the salt 4 hours later. Nothing came out hot, and seemed to have been sitting for a while before making its way to us after half an hour.
I couldn't recommend going back unfortunately.
Edit (As I can't respond to the owners comments below):
Appreciate the time taken to respond mate.
I am very aware that it's a busy day - that's why we booked! We were placed at a table booked under another party and then questioned why we were there multiple times. We weren't checked in with or asked for feedback when we went to pay - simply told the price. If that's what you're chatting to the chefs about, of course you aren't going to hear much and instead are going to get feedback on here.
My above review was one of the food and drinks, not one of the staff. But I may as well add this info too. As I said above, it's understandable due to how busy a day it is, and my full respect to the staff working.
I can't say much for the other customers, but 3 of us are feeling pain in our tongue and mouth from the salt. I've had fish and chips with extra salt treat me better than the hash and chicken. That's more than preference mate.
I hope you don't take this as a dig at your pride but genuine feedback to improve the product...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt could have been such a lovely cafe but Iād like to offer some suggestions in improving the management of the cafe.
1.) Each staff is appointed to manage particular tables. I ordered a creamy chicken linguine. After 15 mins, the guy who took our orders came and asked if I ordered ācreamy chicken zucchiniā ( It want even on the menuš š). After another 20 minutes wait, he came back with tomato veggies linguine. I wouldnt mind taking that if it werenāt that I would get rash after having tomatoes. 2.) We asked if we had to pay at the counter. Iām sure the guy came with good intention. He said he would bring the card machine over. Of course he forgot. After another 15 mins we finally paid, we walked out of the cafe, had another staff ran after us and asked if we had paid. I understand she was just doing her job and itās not her fault. But it wasnāt the most pleasant thing to have everyone else stared at us on the street afterwards. Consider standardising payment method and improve staff communication to prevent this from happening again?
But, in general most of the staff were friendly. I would like to thank especially for the lady who had to cover for the other staffās job. There were instances when other tables got the wrong meals delivered to them as well but she was very courteous and attentive in making up for those. Lovely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually grab a coffee across the road, but I spotted this new addition to our West End community - āVulture Street Espressoā . The service was first rate, very polite, friendly & the staff were fully engaged, it set the positive tone for my dining experience. The cafe is very clean, tidy & Covid safe with their QR code@ the counter. You have the option of still or sparkling chilled water for your table, which is a very nice touch. I noticed how very crisp & refreshingly clean everything appeared, particularly the water bottle & glasses. The coffee was perfect, & my poached eggs on toast was very tasty & plated well. The menu selection is not extensive, but all the available options sounded delicious, I do look forward to trying out more of their menu items, on my return visits. They do offer a small kids menu, and there are scrumptious looking sweet treats & savoury options in the chiller cabinet if you prefer a lighter bite. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality & taste. I chose the inside banquette seating, there is a lovely green alfresco area out the back, or table seating outside the entrance. Their white coffee machine is one of the coolest machines Iāve seen! Welcome to our West End Community Vulture St. Espresso! I can highly recommend...
