I'm usually a very smiley, super chill sort of guy and not one to ever complian but thought this needed a mention, since it was my first and last visit there. Came to try the coffee as I'm a local and tend to see people outside a lot. Coffee was below average, so that's one thing but mainly, there was one girl that looked of Asian background (didn't get her name) who straight away was quite rude about the covid sign in stuff, all good we've all been there but what I considered exceptionally rude was that when I sat on the single table, 2 people came who ordered food and that same girl came and asked me quite bluntly to move. After asking if they could sit inside which looked a lot more spacious then my single table, she told me no and I smiled and told her I'll just leave. She proceeded to have a very condescending smirk and did not even slightly hint to apologise as I got up. I understand the hospitality process quite well and try my best to be as nice as possible at all cafes with staff, which is why I was quite shocked by the approach and can only imagine if I was a more annoying customer. The only reason I didn't give one star is because one of the other staff was quite friendly and I did not try the food. This may not be the best representation of this place but first...
Read moreWe set off on an early morning breakfast run to West End Coffee House which is located on Vulture Street, West End. This cafe is a hidden gem and offers Thai-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes that are sure to tantalise your taste buds.
Our drink choices were the divine homemade chai latte and the unique dandelion latte. For our mains, we decided to go all out with the Vegetarian Fried Rice topped with a wok-fried egg and Prik Nam Pla with an add on of sliced chicken breast. As if that wasn’t enough, we also ordered the tantalising Laos Sausage paired with wok-fried eggs, steamed rice, crunchy herb salad, and tomato chilli jam.
The flavours of the fried rice and Prik Nam Pla were simply divine, while the fragrant Laos sausages left us craving for more.
Although the exterior of the place may not catch your eye, the cosy interior and mouthwatering food will have you hooked from the moment you step inside. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was buzzing with satisfied patrons.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get our hands on the Tom Yum Omelette with Prawn filling this time, but it just gives us another excuse to make a return visit. Overall, our trip to West End for this Thai-inspired breakfast was...
Read moreI recently had a meal at West End Coffee House, and it was quite an interesting culinary experience. Here's what we ordered: the King's Omelette with rice and chicken mince, Pad Kapow with Holy Basil Stir-fry and chicken mince, Saturday’s special Kor Moo Yang (grilled pork neck, sticky rice, and cucumber), along with iced coffee and Thai iced tea with milk.
Most of the dishes had good flavors, but I have to mention that the Pad Kapow turned out to be a bit too salty for our taste. As for the Saturday's special, the Kor Moo Yang, while tasty, didn't quite provide the authentic Thai taste I was expecting. It tasted more like "Hainanese chicken" instead. Perhaps it could have been improved by serving it with Nam Jim Jaew (Thai chili dipping sauce) for a more authentic Thai experience.
However, the iced Thai tea was a pleasant surprise, with a hint of lime that made it really refreshing. It was the perfect choice to cool down on a hot day.
In summary, West End Coffee House offers a variety of Thai dishes, and although there were a few minor issues in our experience, it's still a place worth exploring, especially if you're looking for Thai-inspired drinks on a...
