Late Night Vice⦠trashy, vulgar, and revolting! (Be sure to read to the end before purchasing a ticketš¬)
Went with a girlfriend for a fun night out. The marketing suggests a classy night of seduction and adult themes. āWear black tieā, ādress to impressā, āmidnight glamourā, āglitzā, ācabaretā⦠and wording such as āpremiumā and āVIPā. The menu includes Caviar, Baked Camembert, MoĆ«t & Chandon and elegant sounding dishes consistent with the marketing. The show itself however⦠doesnāt match that vibe whatsoever! š¬š¤¦š¼āāļø
The theatre itself is pretty neat. You enter an open room about 3 storeys in height with tiered seating and a bar at the back. Everything is black. A large Ferris Wheel rotates to the right of the room and there are a few merry go round horses up high. The theatre has lots of atmosphere and looks really cool. That part was a thumbs up.šš»
On arrival we were ushered to our seat and given a laminated āwarningā card of rules and what to expect⦠such as nudity, sexual references, offensive language, performances that will shock, drug use, strobe lighting, smoke machines, audience participation so āsuck it upā, donāt touch, no phones or cameras, etc etc. If you donāt agree or donāt like it, leave now. There will be no refunds. No probs.
The evening was divided into three Acts with two twenty minute intervals to replenish your food and drinks.šø2 hours in total. The show actually starts at 10:30pm (not 9:45pm as advertised) and finishes at 12:30am.
When the show started the shock value hit from the very beginning. Each Act was a series of short performances⦠that got more and more shocking, crass and offensive as the night went on. Iām pretty open and liberal with the type of entertainment I enjoy. But this was totally unexpected, trashy and just completely tasteless and vulgar. As the night progresed the clapping and enthusiasm from the audience lessened and stopped, people covered their faces in shock, reactions of disgust and distaste became consistent, and people walked out.
Based on the marketing we expected high quality adult entertainment that was class and seduction⦠the likes of something out of Las Vegas that creates attraction and arousal. This, on the other hand, was just jaw droppingly gross and revolting⦠and left us completely turned off.
If youāre planning on taking a date⦠donāt. Not if youāre wanting another date. And definitely not if youāre hoping to seduce them at the end of the night. Itās sure to have the opposite effect.
As this is a Google review and due to the nature of the evening, I canāt mention all that happened, or my unfiltered thoughts about the quality of the performers, or performances. But let me just say that none of it was attractive or a turn on in any way to me or my friend⦠nor quite obviously to any of the audience around us. I doubt that anyone would want to go home and get intimate after that!
Unexpected is an understatement. Did we leave laughing? Yes. At the complete shock of what weād just witnessed! š šAn experience that we will be talking about for a long time to come. Would we recommend? Absolutely not. Donāt waste your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR: The venue is wonderful, the show not so much. Looking forward to the next show at this theatre. Venue: We visited LIMBO at the West End Electric on 4 September. The venue is AMAZING. Friendly and helpful staff, and there were lots there helping, including a lovely concierge service showing us up the stairs and explaining the theatre. The hostess at the door was wonderful. The venue was perfect, well laid out and ideal for the show. We didn't order drinks or food, so can't comment on that. Loved the venue. Show: We thought the music (banjo, tuba, beat-boxing, harmonica, overalls-wearing) completely contradicted a burlesque-type atmosphere. The music wasn't raunchy or naughty or sexy or sultry - it was hillbilly. Aside from a few acts, the show itself was pretty average (enjoyed the tap-dancer audience warm-up, the tightrope, and the bendy poles, but the rest were just ok). One act involved the harmonica player holding a microphone to a marble rolling around a glass bowl, which was weird and pretty lame. Looking forward to what is next at the West...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partner booked this experience to celebrate our nine year anniversary so I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon arrival, I was completely blown away with the overall aesetics inside and out. What was also unique, is that all employees (including performers) were so friendly, hospitable and all seemed to work so seamlessly together. Considering the business has only been open for such a short time, that is a strong testament to who is running the operation. As for the show, it was absolutely incredible. Each performer is unbelievably talented, skilled and captivating. Most of all, they were able to sneak in so many unexpected moments of humour which really made the show. I will be recommending this venue and show to all of my friends, and I can see myself being a long term fan of this establishment. This is exactly what Brisbane has needed, so I hope it does well. Do yourself a favour and book some tickets for...
