Just what this area desperately needed! A big thank you to the new, professional owners for choosing this fantastic East Brisbane location. I was very impressed with their warm & friendly welcome on entry. Finding a parking spot was easy for us, we quickly located one in the shared carpark in front of the cafe, off Lytton Rd. Be warned, this is a very popular & busy little carpark, as IGA is next door, & a popular sushi restaurant, but don’t stress if you can’t find one, there’s a handy underground carpark, just follow the large painted blue arrow on the ground - the underground entrance is located behind Hey Joe’s Cafe. This cafe is surprisingly large inside, with a number of cosy seating options, they also have a few outside tables if you choose to enjoy the sunshine, & my favourite - a long & comfortable banquette seating underneath the far windows. The menu is great, all the favourites, some with an awesome Indian or chilli twist, they do offer a yummy separate vegan menu - which I will definitely try on my next visit! It was actually very hard to choose, but I went with the delicious scrambled eggs with a side of sauteed mushrooms - perfection! I did ask our waitress to thank the chef - the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, plated & presented beautifully! The portion sizes were very generous for the pricing, we had two breakfast dishes & two coffees for under $45. The service was friendly & attentive, the coffee was full of flavour, strong & hot, arriving quickly, with our meals following pronto. If you’re after a quick, takeaway coffee, head to the designated brick window area for attentive service. I hear they do great desserts, cheese burgers & cocktails😎I look forward to trying out other fantastic menu options! Congratulations to the Hey Joes Team, welcome to East Brisbane &...
Read moreStumbled across this cafe from an online review, and it looked so good we had to come visit! The interior is absolutely gorgeous, and on the beautiful day that was, it was so nice to sit with sun peaking through the windows. Such a bright and fresh-feeling cafe!
Wasn’t too busy when we arrived around lunch time, and we were seated fairly quickly. Plenty of free parking underneath the centre. First impressions from the staff were a bit mixed, and we didn’t get a friendly feel from them. Regardless they were super efficient and pleasantly served us.
We ordered a cappuccino, decaf vanilla ice latte and the avocado salsa with flat bread special (forgive me I have forgotten it’s menu name). The coffee had a unique smokey flavour and although good, it wasn’t my style. The iced latte was delicious, and syrup was perfectly sweet. I really enjoyed the meal we shared, the flat bread had a subtle curry taste and was so tasty paired with the guacamole and sour cream sauce. It did however lack some substance, and almost felt like a snack more than a lunch meal. If you’re looking for something light, this is perfect!
Overall, I’d recommend Hey Joe Coffee and Co to others and hope to be back to try their other menu items. I see from their page that their open late, which is definitely a plus as not many...
Read moreDon't get me wrong the place is super nice, a tad on the pricey side but that's what I expected when I decided to dine there. The milk shakes are quite thin and smooth, distinguishable from a thickshake, just the way i like then. I also orderd the avo and feta toast, aswell as the joes classic burger. The first thing I noticed when the toast came out is that the meal was severely lacking in feta but the rest of the meal was stunning, had to order a side of smoked salmon for $7 extra on a $17 toast(a cheaper option should be present as personally salmon seems a necessity for such a meal) but the avocado was nice and the salsa nice and subtle. The cheese burger on the other hand was sadly mediocre, for a $16 burger its around about what you'd expect, there where all the necessary ingredients but nothing stood out. The sauce lacked any flavour just make the burger tast a little bit less dry, resulting in the ground beef patty overtaking the whole mouthful. Overall this was a nice restaurant with a lovely atmosphere if ur looking for a fun little place to brunch in the area then I cqnt recommend more, but be warned id stay away from any of the real big...
