Sushi Kiyo is a nice place to go on a Friday night. The decoration of the place is welcoming and chic. The place welcomes different groups of people like families, couples and friends. The platters are all traditional with half of the menu costing $3.50. Some other items like fusion rolls and tempuras are $7-$15. The quality is acceptable but not super fresh. The tempura we ordered was 0/5. It was the worst tempura I’ve seen and tasted in my life. There was no batter, undercooked vegetables and a pointless salad. The winner of our small tasting session was the Double Shrimp Roll. It packed a lot of flavor and the portions were generous. Ordering through the touchscreens is messy and you can’t keep control of how much money you have spent. This is a major negative of this restaurant. Also, the staff and service was lousy. You don’t receive a welcome when you arrive and only interact with staff member when you pay. Finally, this restaurant fails to hit the mark in service and food quality. But it’s prices and accessibility makes it an option for neighbours to have a quick sushi bite.

The quality has gone down significantly in the last few years and especially in the last few months!!. The last few times I’ve been the sushi has been so badly made and the rice has been so gluggy I can’t believe they served it!! Today I ordered a mini udon and it was basically hot water with noodles, and 2 small crab sticks on top. It looked nothing like the photo on the menu and tasted like hot water. The staff were sleeping at the next table. I’m sorry to leave a bad review but this restaurant needs to make quite a few changes to get back to a reasonable standard and what it used to be.

we went on a friday night. the staff didn't greet us so we were unsure if we could just sit or wait. it's the least sushi I've ever seen on a train, but you can order off a tablet so at least you know you're getting something fresh. I enjoyed my plates and liked the aburi salmon. same at the end, we were pressing the call button to get our bill but no one was coming so we just walked to the counter. I probably wouldn't choose to come here again, but it's convenient in the area.

I try to support local businesses and have eaten here a few times over the years. The East Brisbane store has always been very dissapointing so we generally go to the Coorparoo store. Kids wanted sushi so we dropped in as it was on the way home. Sushi was definitely not fresh and smelt really fishy. The amount of seafood on the nigiri was tiny which was probably a blessing in disguise. My wife ordered the chicken udon and the seafood stick in the soup was still cold. The owner said that was normal as they just pour soup over it. She couldn't bring herself to eat luke warm soup with bits of cold artificial seafood in it. We make better instant udon at home, and is actually hot. Plates were very very slow to arrive. My daughters had finished eating dinner while my son still waited for his salmon & avocado rolls. My hand rolls never arrived. The two staff/owner we spoke to were rude with really bad attitudes. Bad food and bad service explains why there was only one other customer besides our family on a Saturday night for dinner. We won't be back,...

This is the sort of place that you can go to by yourself, chill and eat the great sushi on the menu. I knew it was great Japanese sushi, when Two gorgeous Japanese women dressed to the nines, emaculate not a hair out of place, ordering plates and plates of food, like they hadn't had a good sushi for a while is a dead giveaway that this place was a winner. Not only are the plates affordable, the sushi is so tasty. The environment is simple, and relaxed. People come and go to pick up takeaways , or sit peacefullyeating away while they enjoy their last moment of solitude before returning home for the evening. I loved thus place so much I returned the next 2 nights..to fix my craves. The service was great, don't expect the usual table service, everything is ordered on a tablet and the staff pass the plates over the counter...so simple, no fuss dining. I'll be...
