Update: Don't call a customer a liar, then claim you're sorry for the experience they had - a poor way to run a business. To date, Joeys have made no attempt to contact my mother who made the booking (it was a surprise for my birthday - Booking was for 4, 22nd Jan 2023 for lunch session). Not how I would have spent my birthday.
Regarding "business", staff were lounging around with one casually chatting to the greeter - slumped over the bench doing zip. At several times during the meal, we were prompted to order more drinks and we found we were ignored after we said no because we were there for food. I have never see so many staff standing around doing nothing. When we had barely finished we were pushed along after stating again we weren't ordering drinks. Virtually kicking us out at that point.
Original post: *Makeshift seating *Cleaning/laundry left at my table *Apathetic staff *Loud music Water-jet cooling system dripping on our table or blew in our face (with pressure) *Not Gluten-free, Dairy-free or FODMAP inclusive *Long wait times on cold snacks
Originally seated in back corner near ice storage (constantly opening and loud) and speakers on rickety bar stools with a staffer doing laundry who refused to move and allow my partner to sit down. Immediately on seating, I had a pressure pump blow in my face which was part of the air-conditioning onsite alongside the brassy sound system and the door to the ice room. We'd booked for my 30th and they'd put us at the slush table. On asking to be moved, staff asked judgementally why and when I explained they put us on a lower profile seat and then placed washing on it (in photos) and left. The cooling system immediately started leaking onto our table and we had to keep moving food away from the growing puddle.
We'd booked seeing a menu that wasn't what was offered, and with moderate level food allergies - there was so little I could eat. The chicken was the only dish I could 100% eat, everything else was overcooked or drenched in a water-like dressing.
I wish we hadn't gone there, currently stands as a ruined birthday and my worst dining experience in Brisbane. Wasted time unless you're just ordering alcoholic...
Read moreI have dined at Joey's many times with girlfriends and it is a beautiful view and a great place for lunch. However, I can't drink alcohol for health reasons, and cannot drink mocktails or soft drinks as I have type 1 diabetes. On the occasions I have dined at Joey's, I have drunk soda water for long lunches with girlfriends, whilst my girlfriends buy and drink multiple bottles of champagne and wine.
The only non-alcoholic option on the menu at Joey's apart from sugary drinks are non-alcoholic beer (I have never been a beer drinker) and mineral water, that can be served with fresh lime and mint. But let's face it, when you don't drink alcohol, water in an form gets boring to drink time after time when you are dining out.
So I called the restaurant today to ask if they would allow me to take a bottle on non-alcoholic wine or champagne for lunch and that I would be happy to pay a corkage fee (keeping in mind my girlfriends will spend a load on alcoholic champagne and wine for the long lunch), and after speaking to three people at Joey's including the lady who answered the phone, her manager and then the general manager, they eventually said they would make an exception just on this occasion. But by this point, I was exasperated and in tears, because I am so sick of having to call restaurants to ask for non-alcoholic options to drink when I am dining out, so I can "fit in" with friends who drink alcohol, and not feel like an outcast. Needless to say, I cancelled going to lunch with my girlfriends today as no one wants to dine with someone who has been crying and made to feel like they were asking something unreasonable.
Shame on you Joey's for not offering non-alcoholic alternatives (except beer) that aren't full of sugar or boring old water. There are so many amazing non-alcoholic wines and bubblies these days, there...
Read moreWe came in for lunch Sunday the 25/5 visiting from Melbourne and were blown away by the hospitality, decor and stunning city/river views at this establishment BUT it was the service of one man going above and beyond that truly made it an unforgettable experience...
I want to give the biggest praise to my guy John (presumably British, apologies if incorrect) I'm a pain in the ass when it comes to food, fussy eater and have allergies a waiters nightmare... I ordered a ham and cheese pizza with a tomato base (not offered on the menu closest thing had an olive oil base and required about 3 - 4 changes to get what I wanted) My food comes out looks amazing but it doesnt have a tomato base as asked... I don't want to create a fuss so I eat the pizza. I'm about 2 slices in enjoying my meal and John (whilst serving other people) walks by about 3 meters away glances over and somehow sees my pizza doesnt have a tomato base, in a packed cafe on a Sunday about 1:30pm in the arvo... He comes over and says "I'm so sorry mate your pizza doesn't have the correct base that's not good enough I'm going to get you another one" I tried reiterating I was happily enjoying the pizza I'd gotten and that I understood mistakes can happen especially during peak times but NOOOOPE John went to the kitchen and put through another order ensuring I had what I'd asked for ASAP...
If that isn't customer service and attention to detail personified it doesnt exists... (I formerly worked for Lexus and know a thing or two about delivering the highest levels of service to clientele)
John you're a bloody legend! That act of service is something we'll never forget, I hope the bosses give you a bonus! You deserve it,...
