To be fair at first, I would say they have decent customer service, the staff who serve us are lovely and polite.
Unfortunately I will not come again or recommend to others. And the main reason is the taste of food. First the seafood is not fresh. They are dry and no flavour (cheese mussels). We ordered an ice tea which is over sweet and cover the tea flavour. And for the paella, to be honest this is the worst paella experience Iâve ever had in Brisbane, the portion is definitely not served for 2-3, and the biggest problem is the rice are dry and cold. I donât know is any there issue for the recipe or cooking process, but for me is taste is definitely not with the standard, for a $30-$40 dish, especially we waited for the food for around 20 minutes and rice is cold.
I did not planned to leave this review until I saw how the restaurant owner respond to some other negative comments in the review. First of all, we come to your restaurant because we saw good reviews and we think it might worth a try. We donât feel itâs good enough we will just put what we think on the review - simple as that. Whatâs the mean when you said â customers during the night were all very pleasedâ? It seems that you are accusing other customers with negative comments are prejudiced and harassing you. Your responds are not sincere and looks arrogant with your âpolite responseâ.
As a customer I think the responds are unbearable. In the negative reviews, you just keep responding with explanations and excuses and never look at the real problem. In common sense, why would a customer need to harass you with after having a meal in your restaurant? Why would I have to say the food is bad if is actually good? Negative comments means that there are room of improvement. I sincerely suggest you stop putting those arrogant responds but try to improve the food quality.
Again, as a customer, I do not care what other customers feel. I only put comments based on what I experienced. Please donât ask me to contact or come to your restaurant to address my concerns cause I already said I what want to said and I am definitely not...

We heard good reviews about this place but left the restaurant extremely disappointed last night.
We are a group of 10. Ask the server suggestions on portion sizes for the group and seemed to have Zero idea.
For a hefty price, we ordered 3 platters - 2 seafood and 1 meat plus additional small plates.
The seafood platter was very underwhelming and we also noticed that it was missing the â400gm blue marlinâ which they didnât bother telling us that it was out of stock.. only when we call their attention that they told us - they run out. It was replaced with 6-7 small little octopus on a tapas plate. It was really bad.
The meat platter was good and tasty but really expensive for what it is. We are hungry to we ordered more of it and an extra paella - the portion size was very small so we ordered more.. 20 mins, we followed up and said itâs coming in 15-20 mins.. then, 30 minutes more - they started putting away are plates.. we said we are still waiting for food.. and they said, another 20 minutes. Also noting that - the place was not even busy. We just said that we will cancel the order, the food miraculously arrive in 5 minutes.
Talk to the manager about the issues. No apology or whatsoever. Raised it to the manager and apparently, it was late because it was the 2nd order. Canât you order a follow up order if your servings are very small for the price.
We were planning to get dessert and more food but we left that place hungry and disappointed. They are charging a premium city resto price for a very low standard suburban eatery. They should review their service standards. I give it that the bbq was tasty but thatâs the only thing i can say good about this place. The taro leaves taste like âsalted taro leavesâ - itâs as salty as I am when I left the place.
Save your money and go elsewhere. Itâs missing the warm Filipino hospitality and very overpriced. Happy to be contacted by the owner if she wants...
Read moreLa Republika is a fusion between new age Filipino cuisine twisted within Caucasian liking. I am proud to see how much the Filipino community has maintained the taste palate of Filipinos as well as making sure it is not too taste bud shocking for caucasian. We personally ordered 1. Pinakbet with their in house made bagoong (it is a vegetable dish with pork sauteed in shrimp paste) so you can expect it to be quiet salty, you can also ask for it to be vegetarian only. It is a great dish if you love salty it is best eaten with rice. I personally loved this dish because it was enjoyable to eat just the right amount of salt serving. 2.taco sisig (fried pork in mayonnaise fresh egg cracked on top with lemon slice) it wasn't the traditional sisig where it was too greasy that you get over it after 2 mouthfuls. It gave a great balance with the taco and fresh capsicum onion that came with it. 3. Pancit habhab (fried noodles with veges and slices of pork/chicken) again it wasn't the traditional Filipino but had a great twist of other Asian noodles taste basic but fulfilling. With those three dishes we were so full we even had to take it home, and had no room for dessert.
The ambience is great for all ages, though I think if you're not really into too loud music I would recommend seating outside. The bar and tapas part of the name really showcase what the place looks like inside.
I also don't recommend eating inside if you have a pram as it's abit tight.youll have to park your...
