We visited on a Friday night; the place was hopping :) Every table full, including the large table behind us with lots of happy Japanese customers (a good sign). We ate California rolls, veg. gyoza, grilled eggplant, tsukune (chicken meatballs) and veg. tempura. We drank soft drinks, tho there are various alcoholic drinks available, and they have BYO wine. Service was prompt and friendly, even tho they were very busy. I enjoyed the rolls - they were very large, fresh, tasty and a good price. Hubby enjoyed the eggplant tho I found it very (too) sweet and mushy - just not my thing. Tsukune were tasty too if a tiny bit dry. Loved the tempura - crispy outside, crunchy veg. Gyoza were nice and crispy. Both of us enjoyed our meal; and plenty of other dishes to try next time. Seating inside and out; overhead heating kept us warm in our wee corner. (Loved the ceramics too.)

A nicely positioned restaurant with outside tables and dim lighting inside. The menu has nothing you've never had before, but what's there is a fair selection. Prices are higher than average, and the serving sizes are moderate at best. The flavours varied. While the sashimi was best with dressing, the undressed sashimi was somewhat plain. Fresh, but plain. The most interesting taste I found, and I don't mean this with disrespect, was the house dressing on the garden salad. Here, I could taste that a chef had designed a flavour I've never experienced, and it was a sophisticated taste. Well done. I would thank the wait staff for finding a table for me at no notice. And the wait staff who tended to me was very friendly and helpful. So I thank the restaurant for this great service.

Overall I think the food is good but not deserving of crazy high prices. Decided to visit because of Hosukawa San, but the magic of their old Hamilton place is not here. We got our dishes VERY quickly despite how busy it was. Like 10-15 minutes, it was a bit unsettling. I think they would do better taking more effort with the presentation instead of going so fast. The sushi ingredients are fresh, but the presentation and preparation were quite poor. Our sushi was sticking together and falling apart. It was honestly amateurish; worse than what you'd find at stall in a shopping center. The cod fish was pretty nice texture, but far too salty, otherwise alright. The tempura was the quite poor, tasting a bit off, soggy and having not much quality. It's incredibly sad that Hosukawa in Hamilton has changed. It was my favourite restaurant when Hosukawa San was running it.

This is one of the more affordable yet tasty Japanese restaurants in Brisbane. You can take your family there and dine out with friends while enjoying their signature lunch special, chirashi which is also available on weekends. I definitely highly recommend the chirashi dish for those who enjoy fresh sashimi at a very affordable price. The tempura is also a dish that is done to perfection. There isn't anything that I could fault. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and street parking was surprisingly plentiful (or maybe it was just by coincidence I parked right in front of the restaurant). Definitely do give this place a try if you haven't already done so!

Nice food but the disinterested staff are inattentive and the service is deplorable at best. Used plates left on the table while next course is delivered, meals coming out one at a time, awkward for the person waiting for the other meals. But the final straw was 2 x Corkage the charge was $22.00- The waiter didn’t even pour the wine for the $22- naturally we complained. The staff decided to speak in Japanese at this point, my husband asked if they could speak in English so as we might be included in the conversation- which they did… and they refunded the $22- don’t be taken for a ride at this place.. Beware!!!! GO ELSEWHERE

Mizu does a wonderful job at portraying fine dining Japanese food. The food was fantastic but price wasn't reasonable. I was given a voucher for a sushi making course that was cancelled due to Covid and Mizu have since decided to no longer do classes. I received the value of the class as a voucher. When going to pay for our food I was told that the remaining of the voucher isn't paid out or transferred to a new voucher. I had to say that was unfair (we only spent $55). Eventually the reaming was put on the voucher for further use but there was no explanation of this at the start.
