Mrs Brown's Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I had really high hopes for Mrs Browns as there’s a lot of hype and talk about it. I’ve been three times and have mixed feelings. Definitely some great menu items but the service is really disappointing. The first time was at night with friends. We spent a lot of money there and it was tastey but as it got later, the waiters kept taking our plates and tidying up around us - wasn’t a very subtle hint. We were buying cocktails by the jug and ordered lots of food. If they were closing I’d be happy for them to let us know and we’ll go but don’t take the plate while I’m eating so I have to ask for it back... nothing earth shattering though so we planned to come back.

The second time was lunch time so less busy which was nice. Fine lunch experience.

The third time was a Friday night. We know how busy it gets. There were 6 of us and we were prepared to wait for a table but one of the people in our group was on crotches from breaking his leg and we asked for a seat for him while we wait and buy drinks from the bar. The hostess was rude in general and upon this request shrugged at us and said there are no tables. After emphasising we only wanted a chair for him she said no. She treated us like we were some freeloading plebs! We planned on drinking at the bar while we waited for a table and then between 6 of us we would have spent a lot of money so I just feel like we should be able to expect a little more service and hospitality given that we are paying customers. We still waited for a table because our friend couldn’t walk anywhere else but it’s definitely the last time we’ll go there. It could be such a great place but the service really kills it. Where to even start about how happy we are to have our wedding dinner with Mrs Brown's Kitchen! 1 - Every place we called to book was either overpriced or rude. We had a party of 30 people and no restaurant wanted to take the small amount. The ones that were willing, charged sooooo much. One place wanted to charge $10 per person just to bring empty plates out for the cake. Ms Brown's didn't! 2 - THE SERVICE! WOW! The staff was so very lovely and so accomodating to allergies and dietary requirements. My mother, vegan for the first time got to eat like everybody else!! THANK YOU!!! 3 - THE FOOD. WOW, the food was 11/10 everything was delicious. Not a single complain. Safe to say they gained 30 new customers. We got told so many times that it was the best wedding food anyone had! 4 - The style the food was served! It was like a feast table from a high profile movie!!! It felt so nice, felt like a dream Christmas!! 5 - Mrs Brown's natural atmosphere and deco was PERFECT. 6 - So easy to deal with!! they are 100% a call away! we accidentally booked for 35 people and they were so happy to refund us but we didnt want the refund, we requested for them to keep as tips, honestly best team, best restaurant we wish we could've tipped even more. 7 - The bar staff were HEROES AND ANGELS! My husband had a little incident dropping food on his white shirt and the lovely staff assisted him instantly!

Ok, this place was the BOMB tonight!

We went for date night. The venue reminded me a warehouse NYC bar.

I loved the dark and moody atmosphere and there were enough people to be a vibe! The playlist was great to set the ambiance during the evening.

We didn’t order drinks, although the bar looked well stocked!

Instead, we ordered the broccoli and speck, smashed potatoes and lamb pancakes as starters! All so very delicious and tasty. My partner thought the smashed potatoes were sensational and probably the best potatoes she’d ever had!

For the main, we had the “filthy swine” - super flavoursome!

For dessert, we couldn’t pass up the hand made apple pie with miso caramel sauce! Consider it the fancy McDonald’s apple pie - but better than you can imagine.

We spent $80 and the meals were such good value for money! Serving sizes were generous. Would 100% go back with friends!
