Newstead Social — Restaurant in Brisbane City

So very disappointed with our visit on Thursday evening. Newstead Social appeared to half full with excessively loud music, on the plus side it was easy to get a table of choice while on the downside we spent the rest of the time yelling at each other. First round of drinks were ordered after a 8 minute wait and the incorrect wine selected by staff (guessing they were more a vodka cruiser aficionado). We then tried to order dinner at the table via the venue preferred method of QR menu. After several unsuccessful attempts we decided to join the queue at the bar. This was where we cemented our desire to never return to Newstead Social, let me explain. Joining a queue with 3 staff serving we were hopeful at first that we could part with more of our money in exchange for sustenance. 15 minutes passed and we hedged closer to that elusive counter, out of left field another patron approached the bar to draw to the attention of staff the non responsive QR code situation. Well wasn’t he clever as he immediately was served and on his way thirst quenched. With some sideways glances and murmuring from the remaining queue, our sprit was broken and our hunger cemented. Bottomless brunch before the Broncos game? Say less. We discovered this epic Sunday brunch deal which was two hours of bottomless drinks and a full spread of food for only $65pp. Such good value and a great vibe to kick off the afternoon.

Drinks were flowing- spicy margs (so good), Bloody Marys, mimosas, sparkling, white, red, rosé, lager and pale ale. You definitely won’t go thirsty.

The food lineup was just as impressive: • Trio of dips with crusty bread – loved the capsicum one the most • Chicken skewers with a sweet BBQ sauce – juicy with a charred flavour • Arancini balls – crispy outside, soft and cheesy inside, with aioli and plenty of cheese • Pork ribs – fall-off-the-bone perfection • Fries – Thin, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Ribs on top infused the chips with the delicious bbq sauce • House salad – surprisingly delicious with thin sliced veg, crispy chickpeas, sunflower seeds and cheese for that extra crunch
